That is a great idea. I figured I-75 from Atlanta would be a heavily traveled road. Also, another great idea on the contract from the carpet mills.

I appreciate all the really good feedback you all have given me on this. It sounds like there is definitely a need. I would need to work on advertising and incentives to make sure the services were utilized.

A couple of other questions come to mind as we discuss this:

    1. Is there any pattern that you all use to determine what exit you stop at such as state lines, larger cities, etc.?

    2. I would consider just offering a non-insurance based clinic. There is a lot of cost involved in filing claims. This way, I could do a low, flat fee for visits, labs, etc. If you don't have insurance or if you have a high-deductible insurance plan, it would be more economical and if you do have insurance, you can still file the claim as out of network and get paid back. Could offer DOTs, etc. at a low rate, too.

    3. Maybe offer an 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. service available to drivers and also motorists alike.

Any thoughts on how this might work?

Main pattern is driving as far as legally possible towards a receiver to deliver with as many hours available the next day. Also, there can be downtime after dropping at a receiver and we search for the nearest location to park.

That would probably be most economical, plus have less overhead/staff since you won't need anyone to file claims. Getting a contract with a carrier, like Shaw, for DOT Physicals can definitely be profitable.

Truck stops really start filling up in populated areas, such as Atlanta, pretty early. I've seen the Pilot and T/A in Cartersville (I-75 Exit 296) as early as 2-3pm. Those two are constantly packed with trucks though.

Yeah, you would need to accomidate drivers at all hours. I remember Flying 'J' having "banks" in some facilities, however, most seemed to be closed whenever you stopped by. You gotta be available 7 days.

Here in Cleveland,TN there are a lot of clinics due to the low income of the residents. Why limit your practice to truck drivers? Open a clinic accross the street or within walking distance of a truck stop. This way you'll have income other than just the drivers. The only tough part of this idead is the stops are often located away from residential ares. Shop around for a good location or offer some kind of shuttle service during certain hours. Most trucks are at the stops by early evenings. That might be the best time for shuttle to operate. Either have the driver call for a ride or run regular shuttles during a 4 hr period.

These ideas are really helpful. What I can see is that is probably worth at least attempting a pilot project at a location. Seems like I-75 might be a good place to start....
