Here is the way it works in my opinion. If you want hometime, your DM will work as hard as he/she can to get you there. The problem is that if you want to have hometime every 3 weeks, they can't send you out a long way and need to treat you as almost a local driver. They already have local drivers, so you will get a load here and there, but when it comes to a long distance load and they need someone to count on, will it be you or someone else that can adjust their request for hometime. It is your call. I am broken in WI and the load I ended up getting repowered went to a guy that was 3 weeks over on his hometime request. He wasn't pee'd off about it cause he now had his load home and made money while he was waiting for his load home. Loads don't come to you where and when you want them and fequently go somewhere you really would prefer not to be. go with the flow, take them all because they will dry up sooner or later. If you want to be a local driver, you will have a long time to wait to get that job at central and may want to consider some other company to drive for. The people here have no animosity toward you, they want you to prosper. they are concerned for you not for themselves. If they didn't care they wouldn't tell it straight. Every driver that fails is another load for the people that are still working here.

Make your choices wisely. Sometimes you will make good ones, sometimes not so good. Make choices that you can live with regardless if they are good or bad.

A local driver is home every night! Not once every three weeks..We don't work for Central anymore but when JJ did he came home for 3 days every 6 weeks, he was a Fleece op so he stayed out longer.

Local drivers from fontana are NOT home every night. they make runs to SF, and other places that cannot be done in a normal drive shift. Things are not always as they appear.

Local driving is not fun or at least not where I work at.but of course I also drive local for farmers delivering seed and chemicals to their farms. Same place day in day out gets boring to me.

That's why Gary is resisting going to a 'dedicated' fleet... he likes the variety... I just want the MILES!

Went in to Fontana terminal today and checked with them in person. They didn't have any trucks but they were going to fly me to a truck. Then KC looked and they had a truck in the shop that needed to go to WVC. So tomorrow truck will be done I will drive it to WVC and then get my own truck in WVC. Yeah can't wait I'm ready to go. Was not losing my cool just anxious to get to work.

Sorry haven't posted in a bit, been doing the one man team thing. Drove from Flagstaff to Joplin, I'll let you figure up the miles.
Did a 34 in phoenix, deadheaded to cali for 3 pickups, to deliver today in bedford heights, oh and crafton, pa detention at both places.
also had a level 1 inspection tossed into the mix, of course I passed (that made my whole day right there)
