Central Refrigerated Truck Stop

late at night 0200 - 0400 CHP seems to let trucks go 65 if there are no cars on the road. Last night I was doing 65 with 4 other trucks and chp just passed us all and pulled over a car a couple miles up the road. Central was going 63 I passed at 70.

 

OMG dinner just got delivered to the truck. If you suckers have to go to OK Grocery in Crafton, PA Primos pizza delivers. I ordered something called the Pittsburgh Hoagie, it IS HUGE, mozzarella cheeze, hoagie meat, pizza sauce, green peppers, onions, cole slaw, and fries on a bun. I'm gonna be eating it for days.

 

Ok so that makes no sense. Sorry not trying to insult you, really. But follow along here. Why would they have a truck in the shop in Fontana, fix it for you to drive it to another shop? Why can't they fix whatever needs to be done in Fontana or send it to the dealer? I'll lay ya even odds that once you are in the seat, that truck becomes yours. Or you will drive it to WVC and put it in the shop, but instead of getting another truck you will have to wait for that one, either way you stay in that truck.

I have known guys that had to recover trucks being told they would get another truck as soon as it became available, but ended up getting saddled with the one they recovered. What is their motovation to take a driver out of a truck only to put him in another one that someone else can have, they have to keep both trucks moving, so just don't want you to be suprised.

Again not trying to insult ya, I'm just say'n.

 

Could be part of a fleet sale out WVC. Just needs to get there? One of the old Volvos going, going gone ....maybe?

I agree that it dosen't make any sense to me either. And if it is just a recovered truck and becomes mine I got no problems with that. When we were in WVC last week there were several company trucks there sitting waiting on drivers (or so I was told). So I am just hopping that this gets me closer to actually having a truck.

 

Wow, things have sure changed as far as waiting on trucks.

When I was issued my first truck (the one in my avatar), there were 36(!) brand new trucks in WVC that didn't have drivers for them yet.

When I say brand new, I mean that you had to take the plastic off the seats and dash that was on there when they shipped the truck from the factory.

I remember fuelling up on my first trip out:

CASHIER: Trailer number?
ME: 53-0227
CASHIER: Odometer?
ME: 26
CASHIER: 26 what?
ME: 26
CASHIER: 26 thousand, 26 million, 26 what?
ME: 26 miles.
CASHIER: Lucky you!

This job was a lot more fun during the boom times. . .

 

Do you mean school? Yes there is a school at the Conley terminal. They also train out of there. They train out of every terminal but school in UT, GA, and CA. Possibly some other locations too, been awhile since I drove for Central.

 

Training in GA is 1 week, you then get shipped out to Utah for the remaining training.

 

Nope all the training is in Georgia if you start the Conley school, but you have to be a Georgia resident to get trained at Conley..
