Yes, it is an interesting world we live in. It is like Mother Nature is waiting for the right time to flush. Those living near water won't stand a chance. Those living in the mountains in certain places won't have any better chance, and those living in mountain building area's; well, lets just say, it won't do much good to run toward the valleys.
Then again, if we have a major shift in the weather, many won't care anyway. Yes, I do find it interesting, but nothing to get worked up about as there is nothing we can do about Nature.
It is amazing that most people continue to go on in life with no plans for survival in any type of potential bad news; nature, financial or otherwise.![]()

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLEY: I have noticed for many years now (going back into the mid 70's) all the Utah plates in Nevada at the Casino's. Also, while living there in the mid 70's a State Representative picked up on charges relating to dealings with a prostitute; and yes, there are plenty of those girls around SLC. Likewise, the notorious motor cycle gang in SLC and all the drug trafficing that has gone on for ever down there. Oh, an lets not forget the underground illegal arms business in Utah.
Yes, Utah is a bastian of shining heaven sent folks like no other place in the US or other parts of the world.
Likewise, it seems I recall that Utah was a center for organizational functions like th Posse Comatatus, John Birch Society, and other organizations; good or bad, but not directly related to the LDS church.
C'mon, give me a break. Utah is just another place where the Human race decided to sqat and do due under a prarie bush.
and yes, I do think Utah is beautiful and I think the LDS church has more going for it and their followers than any other church world wide. -
If this causes flashbacks that need medical attention, I appologize in advance.

ok - the most important comment to make to you is that I left CRST over pay - stayed with them hoping to get back wages, 4 months later and lots of, "next week" and never got back wages and kept getting shorted on current loads was enough to walk away from lying CRST. If you have an independent income, go for it, if you need money, look somewhere else. Recruiters are trained to read scripts - just like the Army! -
I have modest plans, including enough gasoline stored to get my 4x4 pickup a few hundred miles out of town, portable enough food/water storage to load up in that truck for the escape, and space in the cab for my family. Plenty of option to stay here, of course, but the escape plan (since we live in the big city) was important to have, I think.
We will be moving soon, though. Found our place in eastern Wyoming and put a bid on it just yesterday. Close enough to the city to still have access to Sam's Club and the other things that make women happy, but far enough away to be able to "stick it out" if/when the fhit hits the san. In the clear zone for earthquakes too, by the way. Meaning very small chances of one hitting. -
Perhaps, I might just stop by some day for a quick visit. That is, with an invitation. -
Speaking of financial bad news......The strangest thing I ever saw while I lived in Utah was a fact reported on the news in January 2004.
In 2003, Utah, and especially the Salt Lake City area, had over 130 bank robberies. Yeah, 130. In one year. 365 days. I think Tampa, Florida had about 18 in all of last year, at least according to a friend who lives down that way, and those guys were throwing a fit over it.
So...what the hell was going on in Salt Lake and greater Utah in 2003? How can so many robberies have happened in a city the size of Salt Lake? I can see maybe 20. 130+? Come on. -
Our place (the offer to buy was accepted last night) is on the opposite end of the state from Yellowstone, which is in the red zone for earthquakes and other activity. We won't be immune from fallout/dust clouds from the volcano giving way, but we won't be affected by the initial blast and earthquakes either. Unless it's a lot bigger than is predicted, but at that point, the planet will move off its axis from the force of the thing. lol
