I don't need to be at the door when they load it. If their employee can't count what he loaded, that doesn't make it my job. Put a seal on it. I don't get paid to count boxes. Especially if it takes some idiot 6 hours to load a trailer.

Dna Mach and SLCTrucker Thank this.

Yeah every week.... They load it, They seal it, I sign for it,(They do have the electronic pads) Security checks seal is secure & off I go....

Get to delivery they sign "Seal Intact" .... Don't really see a problem here... I drop it & off I go bobtail... Never had a problem....

When you get to a shipper and it is posted:

    This is not
    Shipper Load
    Shipper Count
    Driver must
    Remain on Dock
    during loading

Then what? (....go sit in your truck and hope they come out or turn on the green lightwhen done. lol )

What about Lumpers? are they responsible for counting?

Once you sign the BOL you are under a contract that states you are responsible for the count and condition.

What happens if your reefer stops running and the ice cream temp is allowed to reach + 30 f?

Damaged in transit? who pays the claim????

Over,Short and Damage (OS&D) claims are a reality.

LTL is more suseptable to damage in the cross dock

FTL is usually Full Pallets wrapped with plastic, so just count the pallets and verify it if allowed on the dock.

If you are told to wait somewhere while they load you, and then they hand you a bill and and a seal, I hope you get a copy of the count sheet/load sheet signed by the loader. if not you just accepted the load as is.

    Oh yea, One last thing,

    Keep on Trucking!

I'll count a million boxes if they want to pay me for my time. And they should be paying me for my time. But of you are getting by the mile pay, you make no miles counting boxes.

I picked up a loaded trailer, pulled it out, shut the doors, put the seal on it, and didn't notice that they forgot to put the seal number on my copy of the BOL. Security guy at the receiver gave me a bunch of crap about it but let me in. Receiver said nothing about it but when they were done I got the BOL copy back and they had gotten 144 extra cartons. Shipper was on the ball that day.

    Yup,

So what are these variances? I always avoided problems with the SLC approach. Only had one shipper that didn't allow it, and they got to remaove a LOT of cases McNugget that were damaged and not going on my trailer. My coveralls are good to -30F, so I can stand there and count as long as they like.

I've been running a dedicated account for 9+ years, and will be going O/O soon. Sure would like to have a heads up on what to expect and how to avoid problems!

Hi, okay , i've been out there awhile too and sign stuff like this at our warehouse everyday were i work at, but since i started trucking i often wondering about signing paperwork for load, my trainers never really told me, just sign and go he said, so i know the truck is company, im assaign too pickup the load ok, so i do, but what i dont understand is after everything all legal weight , rolling down the road, i get there too the other place, they find 4 palletts damage, i wasnt on the dock when they loaded it, so as a driver i pay for those 4 palletts ,outa my own pocket, now that part i dont understand, its not my truck, not my trl not my freight, im just a driver, :biggrin_25513:
