My recruiter called today and I asked him again about my medicine and told him I had a letter from my doctor and he said you can't drive if you are on any mind of anti depressants. The FMSCA website says the meds can be ok if you have a letter from the doctor with all the specific information. I guess this is a Prime thing. So no driving for Prime for me now.

The medication got me. I passed my drug test and all but I had recieved a prescription for lortab a couple weeks before coming to Prime. They sent me back home via greyhound to wait a month and come back with a note from the doctor saying I dont need it anymore. I was honest about it and did tell the nurse about it she said I was fine, but Primes doctor says i have to have a statement showing my doctor hasnt wrote me anything in the past month. I will be returning to Prime Sept. the 15th. I got to stay for one week and I was paired with an instructor already but I gots to do it again.

As long as the carrier meets the minimum requirements set by the FMCSA, they can be more stringent.

I've heard our safety director remark on this subject, and their take on the use of anti-depressants is this: Trucking is a very stressful job to begin with. Couple that with the very small world that a truck cab is for team drivers or the isolation that is the world of a solo driver, it is very easy for a person to be overwhelmed by stress.

Yea I can understand their thoughts on this. It seems like nowadays when you go to the doctor they are trying to put you on them. I have been on them for so long now that I don't even remember why he put me on them. I think maybe going to see him about getting off of them might just be a good idea, especially after I read some of the physical side effects that it does to a person.

Thanks IP for all your information.
