You still need an address to use as a "primary residence" for tax purposes. This can be you parents house.
I'm toying with the idea of doing something similar to get back out on the road. With no rent or house payment to worry about, the low pay for a few years isn't such a problem. Lost my house the first time around and ended up in bankruptcy.
But I have gotten rid of all the credit cards and the only long term debt I have now is a payment on a used car thanks to a lovely deer committing suicide.
Whether you should quit your job is something only you can decide, but I would advise taking a driving course at your local college over going to a trucking companies school. This is coming from a Stevens Academy graduate. All a school does is train you to pass the test, Stevens charges about 2 times what a college does.Spacefrog and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -

WOW, you really are a sorry soul arn't you. Trolling around here waiting to criticize anyone trying to better themselves. Here's an idea, for once in your life try to be positive and give positive ideas, encourage a fellow driver. Before hitting "submit reply" ask yourself if you would say these things to a persons face rather than hiding behind a cowardly keyboard.

no rent or house payment can sound like a good idea but! It does cost money to live out of a truck ya know. food, shower and anything else you need on the road will have to be bought at a truck stop.

i have also realized that i don't have to put much gas in my pick up. since i hardly ever drive it. If i was at home all the time i would burn 50 bucks a week in gas.

If you want to live in the truck full time and not have a home, there are three states that accomodate that lifestyle easily: Texas, S. Dakota and Florida.
All three allow you to be a resident and not live there. This is done by having an address at a mail forwarding facility.
You can use that address to register your car, register to vote, have a bank account...everything you need except real estate. -

Trucking has been on the table for me for a couple months now, waiting for me to pick it up. The only reason I haven't done so already is because the right girl got her hands on me first. Steven's sounds like the best place to start, though I don't like the idea of being absent for more than a couple months. The biggest question to me is... can they be trusted to get me home as frequently as they say? Most importantly during the OTR training phase.
I want to believe them, but my gut says no. Am I wrong? Is there someone who has the time and authority to make sure the company stays true to it's word...?
