Hi,I currently have 5 years of a valid DL and recently completed my CDL permit test at the local BMV and passed. I am now looking into the training and don't have money to pay out right for it so I plan on going to a school. I'm really thinking about going to prime. I'm 21 years old with no wife/kids and no relatives have any med problems so OTR defiantly wouldn't bother me in that aspect. They say they pay $600.00/WK OR .12 CPM. Is this true? I originally looked at CR England and everyone told me they don't really pay .53 CPM and they will just rip me off so I'm wondering if all schools rip you off. If I work for prime for 6 months I will only owe them $ 1750.00 and if I drive for them for one year everything will be free. I still live with my mom and she said that I could jut give her $150.00/Month and keep my room and eat and all that when I come home so money isn't the biggest issue but I defiantly don't wanna get shafted either. Have you had any exp with prime? Is it a good place to start at? Do they really pay $600.00/WK OR .12 CPM? Thanks guys!

I'll be attending Prime Inc. on September 13th and have set up a blog page for my friends/family to follow if they want. If you also want to the link, shoot me an e-mail. I am on a mission now of studying for my written test so I can have that knocked out before I go. I am also getting a DOT Exam on Wednesday. I'm stoked and can't wait to get started. Stay safe and God bless.

Yup its true. There are plenty of threads on this, and a number of student drivers who are going through Prime's driving school are actively posting on the site.

The $600/12-cpm deal is training pay after you've received your CDL. Prime will advance you $200 a week during CDL instruction to cover your expenses while you're with a CDL instructor - that shouldn't take more than a week or two - and your room and board is covered while you're in Springfield. The $200 per week is a loan that will be paid off at $25-per week once you're employed. There are a couple of non-refundable fees that you need to pay up front - in your case I think that would only be for an initial DOT physical.

After you get your CDL (its a MO CDL that will have to be transferred back to your home state) you will become a Prime employee, and you'll run 30,000 miles with a trainer before coming solo qualified. That's where you get paid the $600/12-cpm that is guaranteed whether you are running or not - you do have to be available for dispatch, so that doesn't count if you are at home. Once becoming solo qualified, they'll start you at 33-cpm and the clock for forgiving the tuition starts at that point.
