Just noticed some ads in the local paper for Knight hiring Port drivers. Anyone have any info on this fleet? Like are they a local, home nightly or gone for the week type fleet? Any info would be great, as it sound interesting.:biggrin_2552:

I ran Knight Intermodal out of PHX a while back. If it's anything like that was, I recommend you go work at Taco Bell--you'll make more money for less time. :biggrin_25513:

Some things to keep in mind:

You will NOT get paid for the time spent at the ports which can be hours. Ports close for lunch and will leave you sitting in line. "It's 5 till noon?" you tell them? Then you'll sit even longer when they get back.

The dispatcher in Seattle is a little #### who laughs at your complaints.

Seattle yard is next to the rail road tracks. Great unless you want to SLEEP!

They were fueling in Tacoma. Not exactly convenient if you are out of the Port of Seattle. And remember, you don't get paid to drive an hour to Tacoma to fuel up.

Knight WILL make money. Whether you make any or not is entirely coincidental.

If you have ever been to their "new" yard in Kent Wa (not Seattle) you will wonder what moron decide to open a terminal here. 3 tight turns to the yard a road that is barely wide enough to drive cars on let alone heavy trucks. The drop area is in the back half of the lot and always full of trucks and trailers. You have to drive around all kinds of equipment because not enough room and it is feet away from one of the busiest rail lines in the state. Every half hr something moving down the track. And the Only decent parking is for the office staff. the drivers personal vehicles are crammed in the middle of the yard with trucks and trailers all around them.

A total complete moron leased this yard which was never designed as a term for trucks or for as many trucks as use it.
