I should likely already know this, but don't. Just what are the commercial licenses in Canada? I've heard of AZ and a number of other acronyms, but what do the acronyms mean?
I suppose it's like, Class "A", with the endorsements listed after the license class?:biggrin_25525:

Not every province is the same. Here in Manitoba, I have a Class 1 with Air with S-Cam endorsement.

    Yay me.

    johnday Thanks this.

OK, so in Manitoba, Class 1 translates into Class A here. Thanks. So you actually have an airbrake endorsement, where as here it's a restriction that is removed. Ya, figure that one.:biggrin_2559:

Class 1 in Alberta as well. There is no air brake endorsement as you cannot have a class 1 without having taken and passed an approved air brake course. For all other regular license classes (2-5), air brakes are a separate endorsement.

    johnday Thanks this.

Class A licences in Ontario are for tractor-trailers. The Z is an air brake endorsement.

    For ontario
A is tractor trailer or any trailer with trailer axles putting more then 4600 kg to the ground

A restricted is for pickups pulling trailers over 4600 kg, but can not pull trailers with air brakes or pull double trailers with A restricted

    B is fullsize school bus
C is fullsize coach and and non school buses
D is any truck weighing more then 11000 kg with or without trailer, but trailers axles are putting less the 4600 kg to the ground
    E is small school bus
F is ambulance and small non school bus
G is regular car drivers licence

    M is motorcyle

Z is air brakes and can be added onto any class licence.

The highest class possible is an ABM with Z endorsment, and you can drive anything.
