i understand that. in pa they(company) put you up in a house with other drivers or a hotel. i don't know how they do that in texas, hence the question. is it like north dakota where hotel room are not to be found at any price? or where places to park a camper are $800 a month for the bare min? the job i do now is not that much different than hauling sand or water and i'm looking for something that pays better and has more hours.

In south tx it seems like it's pretty hard to find somewhere to live but further north in the barnett shale there is plenty of housing. You wouldn't have any finding something decent to rent or buy.

I don't know what your expecting as far as pay but I can tell you starting pay us around 16-17 an hour and 60 hours a week with ot after forty is pretty easy to find.

Oh okay. I already have my CDL, just looking for work outside of California, where the cost of living isn't so high and I can have some days off that I can actually enjoy the fruits of my labor... Really looking towards Texas... And By "pay is ok" what is "ok"??

Pretty much the case for haz-mat jobs. I did my newb time with cr England mixed with some flat bed and hot shot work. If your a green horn (on paper at least) get on with a water or sand company. Or even OTR carrier. 12 mos isn't jack in this business. GL

It's likely that requirement is quietly looser. Trimac has been losing drivers to their "new pay package" which was actually a pay cut.
