I forgot why you feel only your antenna mounting will work. Because you need a mount & antenna that's strong enough to handle sending 1500 watts into a FM repeater with a Technician class license. As you stated in another post. A Very SAD case.
While you are at it, park the truck for a couple of days and do some studying and get your amateur radio license and move up to the 2 meters / 440 mhz bands and FM.
There you can use your legal amplifier, up to 1500 watts, and you can talk all you want on the FM repeaters
swr problem general lee cb shop cant get it after 3 hours

I concur. That's what I did. I enjoy 2 meters more than I ever did 11 meters. The repeaters are awesome for talking long distances. Though I don't use an amp to do it, just the stock power of the radio. I won't even go into the radio, it has so many bells and whistles I can't keep count.

Thats just too much work even thought it will do the job

Yes it is alot of work, especially if it a company truck. I really would hate to have to do it only to get pulled out of the truck in 6 months and put in a different truck then someone else would gett he benefits from my work.
If it were a personal truck or an owner operator then this would be an option giving the owner had the time and extra cash to do it. I figure it would take acouple afternoons to do and have everything buttoned back up ready for work. Even just doing the hood and doors might make a difference. I have to believe there is still enough metal frame work and braces in the cab and sleeper were you would not have to do too much with them other then making sure the metal is all linked together. -
Dude,
That is a 102" whip and it is impractical for a big truck. You've got some real old timers telling you that you don't know what you are talking about. I'd take their advice.
BTW, I'm still waiting for that call sign. -
Make a dipole antenna. It's cheaper than building a ground plane and more effective.

Cheaper ..... Yes
More effective
no it should be about equal.
