Greenville SC... waiting for a door. Arrived with about 5 minutes to spare.

Picked up in La Vergne TN... we all know who that is. Before I accepted the load, we had a conversation about my arrival time - I wouldn't be making the appointment and it's a live load. Doing the DOT physical thing, and my 10 wouldn't be up before the appointment. Sales reschedules the appointment, and its all good.

    Arrive at 1525 for a 1600 appointment.

Shipping clerk tells me they'll "work me in" because I'm late. I point out that its a 1600 appointment, but don't press it. Let dispatch know about this.

1638... directed to back into a door, but don't open up yet. OK...

1848... still no word on when I'll be loaded. Go talk to the clerk... get into the "late" business, appointment time, arrival time. She tells me "they don't do that" - meaning reschedule appointments, even though its through their corporate office - gets into power trip mode, drops an f-bomb - so I head out the door and call dispatch.

1945... finally told to open up and back in.

2130... loaded. At this point I'm taking an 8, sales wants to know what happened, so its long QC time.

...on this end the receiving clerk decides its time for lunch. Nothing happening for a half hour.

...tell me this isn't a government operation! :biggrin_2556:

Vacationing in Schuyler, NE while waiting for a load going to Elba, AL... Due in AL Monday morning. DDT on this load, SATURDAY morning. 1200+ miles... do the math. Praying it is ready long before DDT. Don't really feel like sitting here a day and a half.

IP this has happened to me SO MANY times in my nine years! Dispatch (or whoever) swears they changed the appointment, get there, and almost word for word at every place "We never change appointments." There can be reams of confirmations from corporate to trucking company... never filters down to actual warehouse. NEVER accept a service failure, though, as long as you have a QC changing the appointment! (Not that you will, IP, just advice for others as well.)

Wouldn't have accepted the trip without 1) my FM agreeing the appointment had been changed, and 2) the computer-generated message from sales telling me the appointment had been changed. If sales actually didn't change the appointment - and I think its much more likely that the shipper's employee is a psycho-biotch - that's their problem, not mine.

I just like to grouse about it! It's like peeing your britches in a dark suit... feels good and no one notices!

Good plan... and you are probably right about the shipper's employee...

About the dark suit... if I ever get to meet you and you are wearing dark clothing, I will just have to wonder. lol :biggrin_25524:

Dark clothes have the great advantage of matching fifth wheel grease stains. You don't have to throw them out after a close encounter!

Carnesville GA at the ex-Petro-now-Flippin'-Peelot-without-a-stinkin'-Denny's. Same Petro Patriot restaurant with good food.
