I currently run the city for a small ltl operation making decent money nothing to brag about ( unless your an otr then ill brag,:biggrin_25523: jk).
Im also doing it to get the rest of my exp so i can move on, but i don't want to job hop any cuz more i have 3 kids and a wife to support. So basically this next job Has to be my last job unless something bad happens.

    My top choices are

    aduie pyle
    ward trucking
    ups frieght
    pitt ohio
    conway
    fed ex freight
    old dominion

i have a ltl background so that's were id like to stay.

can anybody who works at any of these companies
what the starting rate and top rate of each and how long it takes to get there?

all of these places are in pa south east, actually lehigh valley .
As much info as possible would be greatly appreciated.

btw i have a fail safe at vitran they start at 20.25 hr, but they have horrible equipment and you get hammered in nj taxes:biggrin_2551:

I ran linehaul for Pjax (now called Vitran) almost 10 years ago.
The pay was barely half decent and you spent a lot of time sitting
at various hub terminals in the system waiting on late freight, etc.
Like they would hold up an entire truckload waiting for two skids.
As Pjax paid by the mile (with no detention pay) you often
sat around these hubs for quite awhile for no money.
You might spend all night waiting at a hub and not make a dime.
And if you went on the clock doing odd jobs you rarely got paid.
I would never run linehaul LTL again unless I got paid by the hour
(and most pay by the mile w/no detention so frigg that).
It's a losing proposition no matter how you slice it.

Not to mention I ran with some of the worst low lifes in the truckin biz while at Pjax.
I mean these guys were the scumbags who give trucking a bad image.
They were what people who hate truckers think of first...the lowest of the low...real scum.
One of the drivers I worked with broke into my pick-up and stole some power tools.
It was caught on survelliance camera and I called the cops and had him arrested.
I gave him a choice - pay for the damage to my truck and return my tools or face charges.
I actually cut this scumbag a break as I could have legally done both.
And even after all that trouble Pjax only suspended this clown for a week.
And even then he threatened to kill me after (I only wish he had tried it).
These LTL outfits will hire anybody and you do a lot of stuff for free.
I've heard nothing but bad things about Pyle and some good stuff about Ward.
Overall I would stay away from this type o gig unless you are paid a good hourly rate w/OT.

Old dominion from What I. Heard is a good company to work for but it really depends on the terminal.

I've heard good & bad about OD.
They had a terminal in my area but they shut it down.
    Don't know where they went.
I do know they pull a lot of doubles and I think
    you hafta lump the freight.
And again it's linehaul & paid by the mile so you risk
sitting around a lot for no money between runs.
