What year did CAT go from the 3604E to the C15s? Also, what year did they start with the ACERT/or REGEN motors?
Thanks for your help guys!!

The first C-15s came out in 2000, I think. There are some 2000 model year trucks that have the 3406E in them, you'd have to look at the sticker to see which is which. Cat had a "bridge" engine from 2003-2004 to try to meet emissions while they finished building the Acert engines with a serial# prefix of MBN, which looks just like the 2000-2002 6NZ C-15, but has different programming and some internal parts. The first Acerts came out in 2004, IIRC. The first Acerts with DPF came out in 2007, but there are lots of 2007 model year trucks with 2006 engines.

Thanks Josh for the break down. Just bought our first truck the beginning of the month. Will be ready for another tractor February or March 2012. Wanna stay away from all the engines with the smog stuff on them. Much less trouble, easier to work on.
Thanks,
Toby
