So I am new to the site, but I had to let everyone know about an example of amazing driving I saw today. I have driven an ambulance for 5 years, I know that it is different than a Semi, but people are still butt heads around ambulances too. They will cut you off, then flip you off, ride your butt, never let you merge and they don’t understand that you can’t stop on a dime. This trucker that I saw today was a freakin driving god!!! I was driving on interstate 225 in Denver, Colorado with a lady in a silver car riding my butt, ( about a foot from my bumper) with a Semi in the lane on my right about 5 car lengths back. All of a sudden the silver car slams on its brakes and jerks to the right, cutting off the Semi. I will guess that only about 6 inches separated them. I don’t know how he missed it! His tires were smoking, his trailer (Full of gas.) was starting to move to the left and he had to jerk the wheel to the right almost hitting the guard rail on the side of the highway. I almost crapped myself! It looked like the car was trying to get him to hit it. This post just doesn’t do justice to the event today. I wish I could figure out what company he worked for, I would call them too! I got the license, trailer number and the big numbers on the truck, but the company name was covered in dirt. If you guys have any ideas on how to find the company I would love to hear them. Thanks everyone!

You will be surprised on people's mentality about this...they will put their lives at risk to hit or get hit by a truck to total their car to get a new one because truckers I feel have the loosing argument by default...there was an asian guy that actually pressed the gas to hit my buddy's truck instead of hitting the brakes...but but the guy made sure he hit the spot where he didnt go thru under the trailer and instead aimed for the toolbox. My bud was making a left turn on a lighted intersection and it turned yellow in the process anyway asian guy was still pretty far from the intersection so he actually sped up to hit him.

You should be able to do an internet search of the numbers on the side. Try that.

I used to run to Chicago from Dayton, OH 5 days a week. I would see this kind of thing on an almost daily basis in Chicago. People are looking for a payday and are willing to take the chance of killing themselves to try and get it.

Not saying this is the case on what you saw but it could have been. It could have also been just another normal case of driver with head inserted up rectum.

Trucks have 3 sets of numbers. The truck number won't help you identify it unless you know the company name.

If you got the Motor Carrier (MC) or USDOT number you can go here and identify the truck.

    http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/CompanySnapshot.aspx

Truck # is usually on the hood and back of the cab.

USDOT# and MC# is usually on the door or the area behind the door.

If you can describe the color scheme and any logo's we might help you figure it out.

Lanes are numbered from center to the right.
Stored in myoice-dial/speedial I would have called Aurora Police dispatch: 303 627-3136 and reported the driver.

If she is incompetent, or a criminal and succeeds at getting hit, they will have a file on a possible previous attempt and it may helprosecute her.

I drive with a dash-mounted hardrive camcorder videorecording. Records 7 hours and easily erases in seconds.
Anything out of view I document by speaking in the audio. Since license plate numbers may be too difficulto discern in video, I verbally documenthem.

If I were a trucker, I would have a camcorder operating.
Newerecorders record even longer on memory cards,o no mechanical hardrives to wear out. Also use the camcorder for regular familyideos.

I'll put some emphasis on this. When I drove a city bus, it was equipped with a drive cam. If I had a dollar for every time that camera saved my behind.

Had this happen to me plenty of times. It's almost a daily occurance. There are way too many a-holes on the road and not enough courteous drivers. It's job security for you though. BTW, welcome to the jungle. ;)

Wish DriveCam tm were not so expen$ive.
Their devices are triggered by decellerations or accelerations above a preset value. Also by a MANUAL button if you see something which does not cause you to abruptly react.
They retain the previous 15 seconds of video and audio before thevent and 15 seconds after.

But I like mine for better detail and frame rate and I can keep anything interesting, like the totally nude woman running on my right and some great lightning and rainbows.

That makes two of us as I wouldn't mind putting a drive cam in my current truck.

You can edit the preset values that trigger the drive cam. There was a time when my company had to do this on all their buses as running over a speed bump or pothole would trigger the cam to send a clip to HQ.

    Ger ur done! :biggrin_2559:
