New guy here so bear with me. I just bought my first truck July 1. It's a 2005 international with a C15. My question is, my AC will freeze me out when the outside temperature is below 100 degrees, but once it gets over 100 the air coming out of my vents is the same as the outside temperature. It seems to happen when I pull into a truck stop and won't start blowing cold again for four or five hours. Had it to 3 international dealers and can't find problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Compressor is six months old, new high and low pressure switches, freon is up to OEM specs.

I have same problem with new compressor/condensor. A/C stops working at about 102 and won't start again until it drops to about 95 degrees. I stopped at that a/c specialist right by the Flying J in Tulsa. He said most likely the refrigerant is overcharged. Too expensive to remove and recharge :biggrin_25513: especially since mechanic said it is charged to within specs. I am presuming less than spec is required for me. I am adjusting by not sleeping in TX or OK and getting back to some moderately cooler location. Thank god for no eobr.

Overcharged fits. The higher the ambient temp, the higher the a/c pressure. Evaporator freeze up could happen too.

Try keeping your fan turned on as this coild be an air flow issue.

Soak the condenser with degreaser, let sit for 5 minutes, then rinse.
Clean with the engine off or your going to get a big surprise. You can do this while you're fueling if you can get a hose on the water spicket.

Heavyd hit on it, freezing up will happen when you run the temp selector all the way to cold and the fan on high as well. Back the temp selector off a little and try running the fan on low or medium, and always turn the engine fan on when ideling and parking as Blindriver said.

Yes the condenser could need a wash down but just as important is the evaporator core. Especially if your around dust. I do this on all my vehicles about every other month and they always blow ice cubes.
