I am currently a student getting my class A CDL. I want to get the best, most functional GPS designed for the trucker in mind. A good friend who used to drive said CoPilot is the king of the hill. Well in the 2010 truckers atlas I saw this ad for the new Rand Mcnally GPS unit. It sounds like a super great product. Below I will put the link so you guys/girls can scope it out. Its more expensive then CoPilot for the laptop, but I have a feeling it might be better. If anyone has experience with either I would be interested in what you have to say. :biggrin_25522:

Ok I guess because I could be a spam bot I can't post links until I've had a few posts...so just go to Rand Mcnally's site and pick GPS...then truck GPS. The options are lised on the left side of the screen.

I am giddy with excitment to hear about the performance of the new TND500. I would like to know who is making it. I would assume that RM has control over the software but the unit is probably out-sourced to Garmin or Tom-Tom or Magellan. Since the RM site also features Garmin I have my guesses who is making the unit.

Hardware aside, the software seems to be the primary problem of the 465T and others. Only reports from users can tell the story. In the interim, co-pilot is a cheaper way to get what you need.

Well I purchased the RM unit...when I get a truck and put it to use I will write a review and post it here. It just seems to me this will be the most up to date knowlege packed device available for navigation.

For me having a laptop by my side trying to look at it from time to time on a stand would be a distraction, and I don't need that, rather have a GPS stuck on the wind shield but thats just me, others may not be botherd that much by the computer deal.
