i should be there a week behind unless something changes within the nxt week i am suppose to be in conley on 9/6 and then on the fun busride to SLC for a refresher course so i will probably run into you at SLC. have a great trip. As for the hotel i haven't really read anything about them not paying for the hotel if your put there and i would be super surprised if they didn't. I have yet to drive for a company that didn't pay for your hotel although i am sure there is a few that don't though. i don't care if i get a freightshaker or a pete cause i don't think they are 379's i think they are the newer one's with a shorter turn radius so i can rock one. Also good with an international i just want to be done with all this refresher stuff and training already![]()

Yeah I agree with ya brother. Ready to be on the open road solo myself.

Hell Central has a drop yard in Chicago, so I can't see not hiring out of IL! The reason usually for hiring freezes is due to a large amount of drivers that live in that area and there isn't enough freight going there to get you home time. I can't see that being the case anywhere in IL. That's the center of the busiest freight! Get a P.O. Box in Indiana or WI and call them back!

So I am really wanting to go into trucking but I don't have the money for school. By reading this thread Central sounds like a great route to start on. I have looked at others, ie: Stevens, Prime, FFE and really trying to make the best decision on company that provides training. Could use any suggestions you all could provide!!

it all depends on what your really looking into doing. Central Refrigeration hauls mainly Refrigerated loads. Some people would rather haul a dry van for less worry about having to deal with the reefer and the annoying sounds that it makes when your trying to sleep at night. Then you got Flat beds (skateboards) which tend to involve a lot of tarp'n, straps/ratcheting.
What are you interested in and everything? Local or OTR? -
For those that did not know, llloXolll has made it to the Central Refrigerated Terminal in GA. He stated that on his facebook account and i asked him to post some pictures of the place here for some of us to get to see about it and all to know somewhat wat we can expect. He said when he got the message he was already in route to the hotel to go to sleep. He got to get up at 4am to be ready for class at 6 in the morning. Well all lets congrats llloXolll on joining the Central Team and wish him the best of luck in his future.

Yeah for llloXolll glad you made it and continue to post when you can. The more personal experiences there are the more informed people will be. I am currently in Grand Island, NE going to pick up a load in the morning then head to Chicago. Then will grab a load in Chicago and head to Denver with it.
Truck is doing good and has a nice feel to it. Although I think there may be some electrical issues with it somewhere. The qualcom goes out sometimes and I have to turn off the trucks battery switch to get it to reset. The radio comes on and works but when I turn the cruise control on it goes off untill you restart the truck. The last trip the cruies control stoped working a couple of times but when I stoped and restarted the truck it started working again. None of these are major problems for me yet so going to get some more loads under me before I report them just in case they want to keep the truck in the shop for a few days.
So far have not had any major issues or problems. I have found that once you get your own truck they kind off leave you on your own to figure somethings out but have always been there if I called in with a question. Got turned around in Twin Citties in the middle of construction but found my way back ok so all is good.
One last thing to remember is that payroll is a week behind. So when you get your first truck your first pay for loads will be behind. You will get one more week of training pay after getting off of your trainers truck. However, if it takes you about a week to get your own truck then the next check will be zero to very little. So just make sure you have some extra cash for your first week out if you can.robngraves, Everett and onthego562 Thank this. -
Alright folks for anyone who will be coming to Conley GA this is what you have to look forward to.
Upon arriving to Greyhound in Atlanta you will call the shuttle service for a ride, go ahead and get comfortable becuase that shuttle takes 30-45 minutes to get to you. When it does arrive get comfortable again becuase the ride from Greyhound to the terminal is 20-30 minutes longer.
Once we got to the terminal we were shuttled to the motel (another 30 minute ride) where you will be paired up in a room with another driver. Set your alarm for 4:00 am becuase that shuttle service to the terminal will leave at 5:00 am. Once at the terminal you will start the paperwork process at 6:00 am and depending on class size this will be a long process. Ours took from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm when we broke for lunch. This process will include --- DOT Physical, Security Interview, Work Well and Drug Screening.
If you clear this process (4 people did not) you will be sent to a class room with a trainer who is easy to learn from, just listen to her and DO NOT BE LATE !!!!!!. Once class starts you will focus on paper logs, this is to ensure that you know what you are doing IF the e-logs malfunction.
In all honesty the day was fairly easy, just boring as hell since 80% of the day was hurry up and wait. -
hmm wonder if i flirt with the teacher will i get less homework? haha. Sounds like a blast. now is this coming from a CDL person or did you not have it when going in? to be clear so people just joining understands without having to read back too far.
Hmm so you got to have them sent to the school? kind of hard way of sayin only if we wanna give you the referral bonus. -
I don't have a CDL, luckily for me that means I get to ride Greyhound for 41 hours to Utah on Friday ... the folks with CDL and experience had to do the morning portion then went to a different class for orientation.
