We have gone through two fridges in this truck in the past 4 weeks. Not sure what is going on, whether its wiring or just the condition of the fridge.

First we bought a factory USED fridge from a salvage place. It worked for just a few days and then the connections got hot and started melting.:biggrin_2551:

So we bought one of the 12V coolers that get 40 Degrees below the inside temp of the truck, and again, the plug got hot and melted.

He really needs a small fridge or cooler in there that will be reliable, do any of you have any suggestions?

Just wondering what the rest of you all do for keeping drinks cold in your rigs?

Well what brand is it? The one that just burned out the plug is a RoadPro with the Clear window in it. Theres so many brands, we just want something reliable, and not have to worry about a fire.:biggrin_2552:

My first was an Igloo - the motor burned out after 2 years, I bought replacement parts and they didn't work either!
I've had 2 Kooltrons since then, I just won one in a contest so retired the other one (5 years old and working fine) to my mini-van. Just keep the fan clean of dust is all I've ever done - plugs into the cigarette lighter and I've never notcied excessive heating of the plug or of the connection (that allows you to 'reverse polarity' and make it either a heater or a cooler).

I've heard the Igloo's tend to outlast the Coleman's. You guys think thats true? Or just one guys personal luck?
