WalMart dedicated? The quiet one and I have been WM dedicated for about 3 months now, so if you have questions about it, let me know.
If you're a lease op, and thinking Coors, I can't really help you, although I suggest that you weigh your truck very carefully before you go there. If you're too heavy, you'll sit a lot.

Probably not. You might be able to come back if you said you wanted to lease a truck, but even then, probably not.
Central has more drivers than trucks lately, so they're not hurting for students to come to school and bodies to fill the trucks after training. -
You'll pick up and deliver in Sacramento, we have freight there. They'll encourage you to take a trailer with you when you go home. The nearest drop yard I can remember is in Stockton, so if you can't keep a trailer with you, you'll end up dropping it there and bobtailing home. -
I keep forgetting to log in here. Still with Central, on WalMart dedicated now. On Lucky #13 for a fleet manager.
And stuck due to road flooding thanks to hurricane Irene... From what we can see, there's either no way to get where we need to deliver, or the only road open is clogged with cars. So here we sit. -
Another newbie on the blocks...looks like I will starting training in Georgia on Sept 19th and on to Utah for 2 more weeks. I just wanted to say "Hi" and introduce myself. Any little hints and advice are always appreciated. I am 46 and my home town will be Tampa, FL.

I would much rather deliver to Walmart than work inside with no air conditioner at night and being treated like a slave and dealing with the drama of employees bullcrap. If they aren't stealing they're screwing each other and slacking causing their workload to fall onto the next person. Sorry about the rant lmao.

I had my share of walmart night shift so I know how you feel
The Challenger Thanks this. -
Just make sure you give two week notice to Wally. That way they will take you back if this does not pan out. If you receive any grief take it up the chain to get it resolved. They should not stand in your way while you pursue opportunities. As long as you have been a good employee? That way if it is not for you...then you go back. No harm, nor foul. You gave it your best shot and learned. Good Luck.poisonxindustry said: ↑I'm going to do it, just trying to figure out which week is best to jump in without screwing my family over when it comes to bill paying time. Regarding Delivering to a DC as driver vs. working in a Walmart store:
There is a huge difference between the two. It depends on the store where you worked and the DC where you deliver. The folks manning the DC think they are Gods. At the store there should be a sense of Team. Now, not all DC's are bad, but a few come to mind that had (hopefully, no longer) people in positions that were not qualified, nor happy in their positions. Truckers, to them are the enemy....especially Common carriers.
I will note that I no longer drive for Central, but do still deliver to the DC's. In a different mode. Mostly drop hook. I have had nothing but pleasant dealings with them since. They really do hold the live unload, common carrier thing against you. Still, I think Sam is rolling over in his grave. Walmart is a monster that has morphed into something that is scary.
