If I sit at a repair shop for 10 hours after 1 hour driving, can I just mark this time as Off Duty, or does it have to be on duty not driving? I guess I could just put sleeper, since thats what I did all day. Maybe I answered my own question.

Log it off duty, and make sure you do have some of the time at the shop as on duty. Don't log it as sleeper time, Why lie about it? Line 1 or line 2 counts the same for a 10hr break.

It isn't lying to log it all as sleeper if that's where you were. There is no requirement to be actually sleeping. Even if you broke it all up as off duty, sleeper, off duty, etc, it all means a 10 hr break. It could be argued that one should show a few minutes on duty to reflect turning the truck into the shop, I never do it. Your call on that one.

I'd go "off duty". Being in the sleeper while Mikey the mechanic is working on your truck isn't likely. Mechanics don't want to be bothered by drivers climbing in and out or possibly hitting the start switch. Just working underneath and having a driver rolling around the bunk might shake some debris into the mechanics eyes. Plus, how else can they take 10 hours to do a 3 hour job if the driver is nearby, lurking ?

Log the time you were in the sleeper on line 2, log the time you weren't in the sleeper eating, exercising, and sight seeing as off duty. Log what you did. Do you have authorization from your company to log off duty?

I have slept in my truck many times while it was in the shop. When my dash wiring harness caught fire (long story) after 10 1/2 hours straight driving I told the mechanic at the T/A I needed sleep and he said no prob. I slept in the back with the curtain pulled while they tore my dash apart and repaired the wire harness. I also slept in the back at a freightliner while they replaced my a/c compressor. They really don't care as long as you aren't jumping in and out 10 times an hour.
