Is a physical required to become a truck driver?
And will the physical require me to "turn my head and cough"? :biggrin_2554:

(And yes, this is a serious question. I am morally opposed
to having a stranger touch my private areas.)

    Yes.

A minimum of once every two years every driver holding a CDL must undergo a CDL physical to retain their DOT medical card/ medical certification.

And yes turn your head and cough is on the menu. (or some variation thereof)

(I've had a female doctor for that part 5 out of the last 6 times)

Wow... that's horrible. Can I choose my own doctor for the physical?
(Perhaps I can find one who will omit that part if I tell them I am strongly
    opposed?)

And now most companies have you take a physical the 1st day of training.

Yes, you can choose a doctor, but they need to be certified examiners by your state's DOT. Not every doctor can give you a medical card.

almost any DR. or clinic can do DOT physicals. If its on the check list you have to get it done.

Correct I skipped that part on here. My bad. It is required in Kentucky as well.

They see almost as many peckers as your girlfriend.

    What are you scared of?

No, you go to the company's doctor. If you are working some odd job, you might get your own.

The female doctors appeared far more nervous and uncomfortable than I was.

The male doctors check you for a hernia. The female doctors seem scared to touch my junk so much that if I did have a hernia I doubt they would've been able to tell.

And no you can't skip that part. The DOT (and your perspective employer) do not want drivers with undiagnosed, untreated hernias responsible for class 8 vehicles.
