Cali tears me up, it's just so slow, I have to set it at 60 and twiddle my thumbs. The rest of the traffic is flying by so quick, it seems hazardous to me. Thankfully it's only about once a year.

Most of the time I'm set a 65, which leaves me 3mph to pass when needed.

I drove neutered trucks too, when I drove, so I didn't get too many chances to even think about speeding. I usually kept it pretty close to the posted in the zones where I had to think about it.

In my car, it's another matter on the highways. I'll usually do 5 over in my car unless I am in town, then I keep it close to the speed limit again. There are times where I end up 10 over in my car on the big road (usually passing someone, since I believe in actually PASSING), and I'm still getting passed like I'm sitting still. Not usually by trucks though, just other cars.

Let's face it, we all screw up now and then. But it gets expensive, and even more so in a commercial vehicle. I try to keep it to the speed limit, and usually do a pretty good job of it. If I am speeding it is because I'm driving HUA, which is never a good thing.

My truck was goverened at about 60 and I rolled past many-a-chp with the radar out at that speed....they'd rather get you for higher speed or passing in the hammer lane.

In Ontario, Canada a few years ago they decided to make it law to have trucks governed at 105KM/H.... The speed limit on major highways is 100KM/H..... If your caught driving over the speed limited your suppose to get a ticket but I don't see many trucks getting pulled over for speeding... My company sets the trucks right at 105.. Not a km over!!!! They also plug in computers at the scales to check if trucks are set at 105... Apparently if you want to drive here ALL trucks have to be set at 105 doesn't matter what province or state your from...

I read a story once about a trucker who told the MTO/DOT guy that he wanted them to sign a wavier before hooking up to his computer in the truck incase it fried his computer.... The officer refused to do this so did the trucker.. Long story short he got charged for denying this check and went to court with it.. He won the case cause he wasn't refusing the check... He simply wanted piece of mind that they would pay the thousands of dollars to fix the computer if it were to be damaged...

Before we had this limiter I used to do the normal highway speeds 120km/h... The truck would do up to I think 130km/h but that is way to fast... I still see trucks doing the 120 but most of them are around 110 or so...

57-58 in Commiefornia, 59 in Oregon. 67-68 where it is 65, 69 where it is posted 70 or higher. I get neutered b4 I go into Ontario/Quebec, and then undo it when I get back in the USA. I have the ECM set so I can cruise at 75 and pedal at 80 if I would really want/need to.

I used to do the speed limit regularly, until the states kept bumping it higher and higher. Now I hardly ever do the speed limit. My truck can bury the speedometer, but why would I want to? Fuel, tires, etc cost too darn much to just push money out the stacks. Tires are a killer, so why burn them up any faster than necessary? That's ok. I'll run my normal 62-65 mph, get everywhere I need to on time, and put more of the revenue in the bank.

And I am not worried about some idiot trying to get poll position at Daytona if the do a full gainer into the rear of my trailer. They have 65 feet of trailer, freight, and chassis to get to me, but only 7 ft of hood to get to them. And they will be at fault. Dead, but it was their fault. And I will not lose sleep over it.

There is a way around the neutered for Canada problem. Just have the truck speed set at 65, but turn on the driver reward feature in the ECM. You can set the parameter in their to allow you to go up to whatever speed if you are meeting a parameter of say, 2 mpg. If the ECM is plugged into, it will show the truck speed set at 65. The Gestapo will be happy, and you can continue on your journey. Just make sure you don't run over 65, or the jig is up. But when you cross back into the US, just git on down the road. Since there is hardly a truck that couldn't make the 2 mpg baseline that you set your ECM at for driver reward, you could step it on up to the max you set for top speed in the driver reward parameter.

Aren't the little hidden things the OEM's put in there for us neat!

Depends on the truck your driving haha... Not all trucks have these cool features... I think this stuff comes at added cost... I didn't even know Quebec has a speed limit for trucks lol. I don't truck there EVER...

I think the law in Ontario (and I guess Quebec is the same too) it stupid and unsafe... Everyone on the 400 series highways in Ontario are speeding like crazy.. I mean I remember when 120km was fast for the highway now 120 is the standard rate of speed.. People are doing 130-140 all the time... Not many people are doing 100km/h ..... So I think it's unsafe... Also if trucks are trying to past each other they end up holding up traffic.. STUPID law makers who don't drive a truck think that the speed is was causes accidents... Sorry I don't buy it... What I do believe is it's the idiots driving the truck (or lack of) is what causes accidents.. Following to close, no signals, cutting into lanes fast, bad weather brings out the best in people lol... I 100% think blaming speed is ridiculous.. You can get into an accident and kill someone just as fast going 105 or 120..

It's like the moron sitting in the office asking why your late for a delivery in the middle of winter...Hmm maybe because I am the driving the truck in bad weather not sitting on my ### in a nice warm office...

People who don't drive the trucks don't know whats going on.. They just like to believe the know.. But they never really know...

Normal for me is the speed limit +10%,unless some largecar goes by and I need to blow the soot out.My exceptions are school zones and highway work zones both always below the posted speed zone.Rush hour traffic is paced with the flow as best I can.If you want to pass me I will move over and let you go,trucks and 4-wheelers,but I`m gonna ride in the smoothest lane until then.
