Prime doesn't want you unloading trucks... if you get hurt they have to pay your bills. One exception I've experienced....*$&$?@&@@? Flower loads.... you have to unload those yourself

Don't go with Prime. Bad company. They screwed up my DAC and put an abandonment on it when I had given my notice more than two weeks prior; they just kept me running and would not route me to the home terminal to turn the truck in.
You will get no sleep. When your training phase is over they will pressure you to keep the truck running.
If you do decide to go with Prime, and you go through Pittston, make sure you DO NOT HAVE THERESA GLEVICK as your Dispatcher or "Fleet Manager" as prime likes to call them.
To her you are only a number.
I was a company driver by the way.
My trainers... one had a bad dispatcher, one had a good dispatcher. The better dispatcher was Jason (not sure his last name) out of Springfield MO.
If you get a bad dispatcher you are totally screwed. That may be the way it is at any company, but at Prime Inc, the terminal manager at the Pittston yard ENCOURAGES and brainwashes the dispatchers into forcing the drivers to run illegal and at their loss.
The dispatchers make money off you. The terminal manager makes money off the dispatcher's performance.
If you quit prime, your dispatcher looses money (and they don't like that and may hold it against you).
Go with who you want to go with, but i was nearly homeless after leaving prime.
I have never accumulated debt.
i had seven thousand dollars in the bank, i'm single, 24 years old, no bills besides car, gas, etc.
That seven thousand dollars dissapears real fast when your jobless.
I overdrew my bank account. Living on nothing.
All because of prime.
They don't care about you!!!!
Good luck whichever carrier you go with.MarineNewRookie Thanks this. -
Go to Prime, it's a great company.
Nobody has forced me to run illegally, which is kinda hard to on paperless logs.
I get paid on time and no errors (I check the numbers every week)
Ive got over $30k in the bank, I came to Prime with nothing but an insured car, some credit card debit, and some household goods in storage in my friends garage.
I get home when I request it in advance, ive had 2 grandparents pass in the last year and each time Prime has offered to swap me loads heading home, or offered to deadhead me home. Oh, and they have DH me home 400 plus miles once for a wedding when they couldn't find anything to make it work loaded with my hours
I'm going to Europe in 3 weeks... They let me combine my paid vacation week plus home time so I'll be gone for almost 2 weeks.
Health Insurance is good. Had a skin cancer scare last year. 3 visits and one minor outpatiant surgery and I think I paid around $60 total.
They've finally got a detention pay policy for company drivers, and I made an extra 250 bucks last week from that. Oh, and I follow the simple paperwork procedure and wow, it magically appears on my check... Funny how that works.
Ive had plenty of late loads, some were late before i even picked them up... however none of them were driver error.. All problems are communicated early, paperless log prove what I have and could do... Thus no problem.
Someday, when I leave... I will make sure I return my truck where the company asks me to return my truck.. And then have the company sign off that I returned the truck... Then I should have no problems with an abandonment hit on my DAC.MarineNewRookie Thanks this. -
First off. If the FM won't route you home to turn the truck in, go to a higher up. It's simple. If not, drop it at a terminal and have a Prime employee sign that its now under their care.
With elogs it's kind of hard to run illegal. And as a driver it is your responsibility to make sure you run safe and legal. If you cannot make a load without running illegal, you tell your FM and it gets repowered. Prime repowers trucks ALL THE TIME so that no one has to run illegal.
Yes they make money off of you. They're doing a job. And a lot of FMs go out of their way to help you out. But keep in mind most have over 100 drivers each. They're human, they forget things. If you have to, call them directly. If they don't listen, go higher up or even ask for a new FM. They lose more money if you leave then if you stay. They want you to stay. Most will work to make sure you do.
You can live off 7,000 for quite a while. Hell some people do it in a year. You should have had another job set up if you were planning to leave the company. If the DAC report got 'messed up', then put in a request to have it changed. Its in your right to do that. At best it gets fixed and at worse, your view is on there along with the company.
As far as 'care' about you. In the short time I've been here, I found Prime cares more about there drivers then most companies out there. What other company has a huge terminal complete with FREE movie theaters, weight rooms, basketball courts, showers, computer access. Not to mention very cheap laundry facilities and very good food.
What other company is running all trucks that are a maximum of 3 years old and trailers no more then 5 years old.
Who else pays $600/week to trainees?
Who else puts APUs on all there trucks?
Hell, I can keep going on and on about this. But take a look around, read these forums, their are next to no starter companies that have a better set up then Prime does. There are tons of drivers at Prime who have been there for countless years. How many times does Werner pull in a million mile driver for there company? Prime has walls LINED with drivers who have done it just as Prime.
Good luck in your future.MarineNewRookie Thanks this. -
I'll be getting my CDL from an accredited driving school in the next couple weeks here in Phoenix. Does Prime have terminals or drop yards anywhere in the Phoenix area and can you tell me if I'd have to work out of MO to get on with Prime? Thanks.

Good Luck.
