Those little bumps will stay on your DAC report for 7 years, not 3 !!!!!
There are thousands of companies that don't use DAC !!!
You are in Ohio ?? You should already have a new driving job !!!!
Good Luck !!
Am I pretty much blacklisted now?

Absolutely no way of knowing the answer to your question. It's going to vary from company to company depending on their policies and insurance. Pick a company and ask them. If they say "no", pick another!
That is why it is very important to not have a preventable accident! It WILL ruin your career! I understand accidents happen out there and sometimes bad luck is just bad luck, but you need to slow down and pay attention when your out there. We all get caught up in the happenings of the day and can get caught by surprise by something that never should have happened were we paying attention to it.

But most ads that I've seen say, at most lenient "No more than 2 preventable accidents in the past 3 years" so I'm thinking after the 3 year mark they become irrelevant for insurance purposes. My first accident is a year old already, so by this time in 2013 I should meet that requirement. If not, then after 7 years for sure.
and of course I realize I'd still be bottom of the barrell, and it depends on driver need obviously they will take the clean driver over me any day.
So I am looking at this as a setback, not a ruined career. I'm down but not out.
I'll be back to driving someday, probably when all the old timers who made fun of me in this thread are in the nursing home -
Sorry, but dont take this as in insult, but one year out is not out of rookie status, most 1st year drivers will have a accident, leaving a company after having 3 would not be recommended, leaving a job before you found another job is not recommended, as in companies that dont look at your dac, try a small company, maybe local, good luck in the future, hope this is a lesson you dont need to learn again, stay safe

As you have learned the hard way . YOU NEVER LEAVE A JOB UNTIL YOU ALREADY HAVE A JOB TO GO TO !!!!!
This aint the old days where I could quit one company and be working for another before I got home !!!!
Well that's what they tell me anyway. I don't know for sure because I haven't had to look for a job in 15 years and with any luck I won't for 15 more !! -
My advice: Apply everywhere. If you see a trucking company, apply there. Show up in person, ready to go to work, with all documents in hand. Beat the pavement and wear out the phone lines.
A CDL, regardless whether it is maintained valid or not, has a shelf life. If you don't use it within a certain amount of time, it will be as if you never had it at all.
When a potential employer asks about those collisions, do not be cavalier about it. Tell the whole story, up to and including what your mistake was and how you intend on correcting the mistakes moving forward. Even if a company does not use DAC, it doesn't mean the insurance company won't.
Good luck to you. -
The problem with DAC is it's pretty dang vague. 3 preventable accidents in 1 year...period on DAC. No difference between tearing off a hood or scratching a trailer depending on who reported it to DAC. My driver happens to have a BAD report on DAC but he happened to work for me before I started my own deal and I know the specifics of his record and jumped at the chance to hire him to operate a truck for me.
Admittedly, 3 incidents in a year is bad but don't give up if you really want to make a career of driving. Also, although there are slimeballs out there, use common sense and you might find a small company to work for that treats you like a human being, pays you fairly, gets you miles AND hometime, and does NOT use DAC. Or maybe you'll luck out and one of the real dirtbags of this industry (read "large corporation that treats drivers like a piece of equipment") will hire you on and you can continue your career that way.
Either way, good luck and be safe.JimBad Thanks this. -

id just say they never happend and the prev employers full of #####..youll get a job w/ that record..why would that stuff even show on your companies record?? 200$ was most expensive?? i learned quick the first rule is always cover your arse...why would you tell them you bent a placard or smalltime bs like that...if you felt bad about it,take it to a shop and have them replace it and pay w/ cash.. lets say you really mess up and you do 2k worth of dmg, personally id rather pay out than involve company or have it on record..
