If you are thinking of applying with Covenant Transport and it all seems to be too good to be true. Well, guess what, it is. This company does not care about their drivers, only the money they receive for hiring students. They have lost so many freight accounts that all they really have left now is "just in-time" junk. More miles? NO More Pay? HELL NO You end up paying them. Boycott this company, they are the worst. Inside word has it they are going bellyup!

Its truly amazing that Covenant hasn't gone belly-up already. They are well-known as one of the worst trucking companies in the US...yet, drivers STILL drive for them. I cannot understand why some drivers will take almost anything from some of these companies and still feel human. They have always been known as one of the worst companies ever since I started driving even...over 13 years ago, yet drivers still go there no matter how many times we warn them. Hopefully we have stopped some, with this site, from having to endure the agony like some of us already have.

Heck, EVERY CDL manual should have this site in their manuals and have a warning to check out these companies before their lives are ruined, LOL. That would help a LOT.

Truck driver training programs pay so much to these companies to train people it's no wonder many have put delivering freight #2 on their priority lists. Getting students to their schools and orientations is the name of the game these days, along with the scam known as "Lease Operator."

At the rate the trucking industry is going, in ten years half the US population will have a CDL, and half of those will have worked for Swift or C.R. England (or both). Of course, 90% of the CDL holders in 2017 will be out of the industry and no longer drive.

Guess you can thank the government for them not going belly up they give them all this money to bring drivers in and train them or to just get them to come to oreintation and send some home jobless

Or they hire them on, train them half-assed, and then give them the bad treatment because those drivers put dime-sized dings in fenders. Bad treatment that is intended to convince them to quit, by the way, such as stiffing on reimbursements, sending them on crappy runs, or just letting them sit in truckstops for days on end. Most guys feeling these pains become convinced in weeks or even days that quitting is best, so they quit. Their companies then replace them with fresh grads who bring behind-the-scenes grants.

Been there - done that!! Trainer was horrible!! Training was not anything close to training. Interior of trainer's tractor overflowing with a mountain of clutter and dirty beyond belief. Absolutely horrible working and living conditions. Covenant doesn't seem to care that their drivers/trainers trash the insides of their tractors. Students are subjected to enduring these terrible working conditions. Logs falsification by the trainer - business as usual. Reimbursements not fully paid and pay not received for several weeks after submission of trip packs. Payroll personell haven't a clue about paying drivers correctly. This is a lousy company! Experienced and student drivers should avoid hiring on with them as it only gets worse as time goes on. The company really does not care about their drivers. They function on the almighty buck at the expense of their drivers and students. Covenant has a 120% turn-over rate. Does that tell you something?

Sheez, sounds like business as usual at the Church of David Parker:

'Say alleluia 'cause this time we're using vaseline' NOT!

What a joke, I drove for them because they gave me a shot, and I consider my year there to be the best education I have ever had, at least about what to look out for.

That's it in a nutshell when it comes to Covenant. They do not care about their drivers. I've heard Parker is trying to turn the company around but I don't see it ever happening, the almighty $$$ is truly what the Parker's worship. I guess most training companies are the same way but Covenant is worse because he uses Christianity as a crutch. Pathetic!

I drove for Covenat from nov. 06 to february 07, fresh out of school. Can't complain about my trainer, he helped me a lot, specially on my backing. My nigthmares started when I when to the 30 day trainee/team portion of training. We didn't have enough loads, spend 2-3 days at terminals waiting for loads. Didn't do more than 2000 miles/wk on that period, including a pathetic 1200 mile week. Almost at the end of that period, I asked for a solo position, which was my intention when I got to the company. They told me no solo positions would be available. I didn't want to run teams so I quit. They have too many drivers for the loads they have. You go to a terminal and is filled with drivers waiting for loads. But the trainers always are running. There were two weeks that me and the trainer did 6700-6900 miles!!! If you are a trainer you do good at Covenant. Otherwise, start runnning!!!!!:biggrin_25513:
