:biggrin_25513:I went to the old FFE drivers School 2010 august and that school had just lost both of their OTR trainer's due an accident and poor pay. I was at that school for eight days and they sent me and most of the newbe's (never drove a truck) home and keep only those who had let their CDL's expire. The VP of the school had to step in for OTR trainer and examiner. They have never called us back so I went to Stevens and got down to the road test and failed at parallel parking. Does their new Academy as good as they say? Please advise me for I am still unemployed and I have been unable to get a hold of Lauren Stiers my recruiter back then, if you know anything that could help, please post.

I have no other training experience to compare to, but I have to say my experience with them so far has been outstanding. No complaints, no surprises. So far so good. So for strictly training purposes only, as per my own personal experience, they get the Road Virus's Seal of approval.

How did you fail at parallel parking? I'm curious because it is one of the simplest things I had to learn for the test that I never used again. Did you back into the curb? Also, was this the DPS road test? Did you fail it all 3 times? I had a guy in our class that had to take his road test 4 times (he had to pay a second fee after the third) but Stevens doesn't like to give up. They like their pass percentage to stay up there.

I sent all of the requested materials to Jerry Wren in Amarillo, Texas. He has never gotten back with me with an answer of when and if I can start school. Now he will not answer any form of communication that I send and I am looking to have to hire an attorney just to get my papers mailed back. My advice is to go to ATDS, get the training and earn a lot more than these people pay.

I had brushed the curb, not backed over the curb twice in two different road tests and stalled at a stop light on the first time and that means automatic failure in Garland Tx. It is the old 3 strikes and your out

Phase II- I worked several days with a City trainer until they could get me set up OTR. The City training was actually good as I had alot of opportunities to work on backing up to the docks, and shifting in traffic. I've been with my OTR trainer juts over a week now and have been to NYC, Boston, Pittsburg, and Seattle. Both of my trainers have been excellent. My confidence and skills are improving daily without compromising safety. Currently, I'm on a 34 hour reset before we head back to Texas. I've definately seen some beautiful country and am adjusting to this lifestyle. The hardest part for me as I'm sure it is for most is the time spent waiting to get loaded or unloaded. Seems many of these companies only have a small window of time that they accept trucks or you are waiting another day.:biggrin_25510:
