Thanks, At least they are taking the time to talk to me. That is more than the other companies have done. No.....its not Monday I have my appointment....Tuesday morning at 9 am.

I dont even have my AZ licence yet....but getting in to talk to them they will know my name and face. I have heard it said on a few forms thet it can be hard getting into a company as a brand new driver.

I dont have the ability to move down to Southern Ontario and try my luck thier. I have a 38k a year pension when I retire..so when I do drive even if the pay is low to start I will eaily take home over 60k a year to start.

If you want to talk to someone at Erb you would probably have to just go in and ask them, they don't have a huge office staff in North Bay and they're pretty busy. With Manitoulin your best bet would probably be calling TPS and talking to them, they do the schooling in Sudbury (don't have the number sorry). No one actually "works" for Manitoulin they have a bunch of smaller named companies and some driver agencies like TPS. I don't recommend working for TPS if you do go to Manitoulin, I did once and quit told them I would never work for them again so I work for a different named company now with different benefits and different pay lol. It's their way of keeping unions out.

I have friends that work at Tim Hortons, they wish they made half of what I do. I don't run U.S. so never had to get a FAST card (the company pays for it if I need it). I live in Canada and don't run U.S so I don't take random drug tests,(we have this thing called the Charter Of Rights And Freedoms) didn't have to take one to get the job either, I work with quite a few drivers that have been here 18 - 20 years, never noticed my check being skimmed either. All that being said if I had $38,000.00 a year coming in I would also find something else to do that was a lot easier and gave more free time, but that's not the question he asked.

But that's what klondike is expert at. You don't even have to ask him, he's more than happy to tell you himself.

I noticed that too, don't know where he's worked for his 25 years but if he made what a convenience store clerk does he's doing something wrong.

Even if that was true I'd rather be driving a truck. As it is, I could work 3 full time Timmie's type jobs and still come up short of what I make now.

I know how much it costs for me to live on the road for 5 days, and it tends to be cheaper for me to live on the road, than it does being at home. Running south makes it even cheaper nowadays. Your "reality" isn't everyone else's reality, klondike.

And no, I could never make as much at a Tim Hortons as I could driving with any of those 3 outfits, unless they were shorting me a lot on miles.

Well, my meeting was an hour long and I went quiet well. I think if I was to retire and get my AZ they would hire me. The recruiter answered all my questions. When I arrived he had a meeting with a company driver I believe. Although it was behind "closed doors" I could hear the conversation for most parts. I guess is not a good thing to refuse a load. The driver (a female) was crying and stating she only had "concerns" about the load but never refused it. Sounded like she was scared about losing her job. I understand the company's point....if someone refuses a load that would screw up other drivers. I guess u take the good with the bad in any job. I am looking forward to retiring from the military and starting a new career. This time next year they will call me "mr" lol

If so, what rank are you? I know that if you are in the US Military as an enlisted with 27 years you would be a SGM and as an officer you would be somewhere around a 1 or 2 star General. Or a Colonel if you were in a career field that was low drag. Just curious...
