If you're trying to save money by not buying the right parts to check this stuff with from Cat, you should know that you only need six bolts, six steel washers, and six fiber washers to do it, you can just do one cylinder at a time. If they're measuring low with the spacer on, then answer isn't to measure it with the spacer off. If they're all within spec using the method Mr Haney described, you can buy the thinner spacer plate and put it back together. I shouldn't have given you those numbers to measure it with the spacer off, those numbers are meaningless.
Mr Haney, thanks for walking me through this the other day, btw. -
i used the short head bolt's i cut some water pipe for spacer's instead of washer's the liner's are all the same within .001 of each other i was just thinking there should be a known # for the liner's with out the spacer is how i was looking at it from what im looking at and maybe im wrong the liner's look as good as new from the veiw i have of them i do thank all you guy's for your help in understanding maybe i should get someone else to look at it so i don't skimp the job

There is a specification by Cat for this, I just don't know what it is. I have my book for the B models but don't know if its different than the newer ones.
BTW, liners aren't that expensive if you have to go that route. -

Hey, just wanted to say how much I appreciate you guys and this forum. Pulled the head off my tractor today. It's a c-15 acert, NSX. It was useing too much water and after a pull on the dyno it started useing more. None in oil, just a white plum out the stack on a strong pull. I did notice substancially more carbon on piston #1, and injector cut out was wnl prior to disassembly. Suspect leaky injector...
