Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
new grad been out of work for two years .

what was the FELONY for.....? that may be keeping you from finding work as a driver
-
unauthorized use of a motor vech. they tell me its lack of work history.

I would take what you can get. Once you put in a year with no incidents with one company, that will open up a lot for you.

i know us xpress is picky about work history like alot of companies are, they may just be being nice and not saying anything about the felony. now with that said if cest is the only one hat will take you then go with them and do when you have to do to get a year under your belt say clean (do it by the book) after a year you can go almost anywhere you want to

I've worked for TW Services going on my 3rd month now. They have a big need for drivers and are willing to hire most anyone that will go out and bust some donkey for some great cash. It is Oil Field work with 3 weeks away from the house, but I do get a week at the house for my days off. I realize Oil Field is not for everyone, but holy crap it pays good.

I haven't worked since '08. All FFE Transportation is requiring from me is an accounting (with documentation) of what I have been doing since I last worked. In my case they are asking for unemployment insurance records (payments to me), references from people who know my character and can attest as to my unemployment and, in my case since I have been going to school lately, my college transcripts. You might give them a call and see what they can work out with you. The reason it is a big deal to companies is that they need some proof as to your stability before they stick you in the cab of a $100,000+ piece of equipment. However, since so many able folks are out of work now, and since there is such a tremendous shortage of line haul drivers, companies (well, FFE at least) are willing make exceptions as long as you can prove your good character. As far as your record goes, they only are interested in the last ten years for felonies, 5 years for DUIs, and 3 years driving record. And better still, they seem to be much better than most driver mill starter companies. They make all newbies attend their driver academy (CDL or not however I think it's shorter for CDLs) and run with a trainer for a piece. But their starting solo mileage rate is higher than average. I've talked to some EFF company drivers who have told me that their equipment is gernerally newer and in good shape. They are in the process of getting rid of all of their 07-08 trucks and replacing them with new.

I would put an ad on Truck Paper and see if you can find an o/o to work for. Might not be the best paying but it is experience if you can get approved for his/her insurance.
