Well i am hoping to go to May in Layton on 9-13-2011 for orientation and i have some questions. I would appreciate some info on orientation and what does the road test consist of? and what brand of truck does a new hire start ot with? Does the trucks have gps or do they use something else? What can i expect when first starting with May. I will be running 48 and i cant wait to get started with my new family.

    Welcome aboard!
All of these questions have been answered ad nauseum on here...
1)Obstacle course, backing, and basic road test
2)Whatever is available, though most likely an older, high mileage Pete
3)NO, it's called a map/atlas lol (general routing provided on your Qualcomm messages when you are dispatched
4)Road/skills test, and lots of paperwork)
    Good luck, and welcome again!

Thanks for the info its greatly appreciated. I am not sure what the skills test is or the obstacle course is? What is the average lenght of a haul for a new hire. Well hope you all are having a safe day.

The skills course consists of a staright back, straight back around a cone, and a 45 degree back around a cone. Nothing hard. They are looking to see if you have a general understanding of backing. Biggest things to remember - use flashers when backing, use air horn before you back and GET OUT AND LOOK!!!

Here's something you can do. Google Layton's (or any other May location) address on Google Maps.

Using the Satellite feature you can zoom in on the yard and look at the obstacle course :)
