As to the "must arrange your own transportation home if disqualified" it's not true, when i was at orientation the ones they disqualified for various reasons were given a bus ticket home. That was a year ago. Sept 2010

It is true about 2 to 3 day wait at terminal shops. FCFS unless ur under a load, even then they would most likely repower ur load. The miles are low, every 3 or 4 wks you get some good miles, but that's it. About the time your fed up with little paychecks they build u up with good miles, then right back with low miles. Their good and bad.

They gave me my start, and I'm gratefull for it.:biggrin_25521:

I'm supposed to be going to orientation on Sept. 12, 2011. On Thursday I'm supposed to call and once again verify that I am coming to Orientation and find out how I'm my bus ticket.

Here is my issue with US EXPRESS already.

Filled out an online application on a Sunday evening. Got an email on Monday from a recruiter telling me she would call me soon. Three days later, I had to call her.

When I called her, she couldn't find the pre-application form I had filled out on line and said she had no record of the email she sent me. Basically she was denying that she had contacted me at all.

After that, she proceeded to inquire about me, previous trucking experience, previous work history out side of trucking, etc... You know, the usual questions they ask when they need to determine if they want to proceed in offering you the chance to come to orientation.

As soon as I got off the phone with her, I called the 1-800 number she gave me and spoke to him about coming to orientation. Then I checked my email and opened the three documents that she said she would send me.

I have those three documents filled out sitting on my desk next to my computer. I have yet to fax those documents in because I wanted to see just how long it took the recruiter to call and check in on why I haven't sent the documents back to her.

Sad to say, 10 days later and I've yet to receive one phone call from this recruiter.

I'M NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL WITH HOW I"M STARTING OUT AT US EXPRESS. If your treated this way by the person who is supposed to be recruiting you, that tells me a lot about how the company is ran.

For the record, I've contacted two other trucking companies and I've done the same thing. With one company I've been on the phone with that companies recruiter every other day as they call to check in and give me any up dates that this recruiter feels that I need to know. The other company recruiter has called me three times.
Again, I've yet to receive one single phone call inquiring about my paper work for US EXPRESS from this recruiter.

I think this recruiter from US EXPRESS helped me make my decision about the company she works for as an employee.

Yes, this is quite common in any large company. Be prepared to deal with this kind of un-professionalism in any business you're in. The best thing you can do for yourself is to get in any dedicated group you can. Wal-mart, Dollar Gen, ETC. Put your name on the waiting list as soon as you are able. Again, having good bosses made the difference for me. Remember to go up the chain of command if necessary. Never go over your bosses head without letting them know and why. If they are a good driver manager, they won't mind because they've already have done all they can.

If you can't get any satisfaction and are frustrated, there is "Human Relations" people in Human Resources Dept. They are very helpful. Remember never swear, talk calmly, this is IMPORTANT. You must remain calm and at least sound intelligent. This goes for your fleet mgr and anyone else you deal with in the company. If you talk to enough people in this way, you'll reap the benefits. Just keep in mind you'll have to do this repeatedly, and resign yourself to this fact.
