Registration is not required to be in the vehicle in Illinois unless the vehicle is over 8,000 lbs or used in a commercial activity.
My wife does not have the info in her car, so if broke into, there is no track to the house.

In California, amazingly enough, an offender can appear by a Declaration (deposition). These "pop up" traffic ticket fighting firms are as plentiful out here like the liquor stores in any city ghetto! Can't swing a cat by the tail without hitting one. Sometimes it depends on the Traffic Commissioner and what kind of mood he/she is in.

First, I would go to the locality or at least call and see if you can post bail to get your cdl back so that you can make some money.
Second, get a lawyer....this is not an option for any cdl holder! Fight every ticket.....more than likely it will be reduced with a higher fine. -
The term used in Georgia is "license surrendered in lieu of bail." I learnt that during my own misspent youth on a few occasions. The ticket becomes your license. Seems like you would be good as-is, even better with a photocopy of your actual one. But being in the right, and being treated that way in another state are two different issues.
My guess is not too many DOT inspectors will take the time to read the fine print on your Illinois ticket.
Edit to add: Maybe check with the court clerk and see if you can post cash bond without a guilty plea to get your card back until your court date.
