i dont like this on new engines because for construction you need more than this 1500 at 80kmh is ideal transmission but in last 10years new engines need far less rpm and this require fast transmissions which make together truck with not good off road capabilities

for this best is old mercedes ng (like 2626 or 2632 with the had 5.91diff ratio and direct drive gearbox)

but i wonder why they need 8x8 6x6 would me much more rational than this wheelbase could be 1100mm shorter

only if balistic protection for cab v8 and front wheel drive is too heavy for one axle ?

but here army dont need to fallow legal weight for commercial vehicles

edit: but even with 3axle tractor it is hard to get good weight distribution on front axle

also scania for other crew cab trucks with 4axle move second axle more rearwards for better weight distribution

I agree a t cab is a far better option but unfortunAtely the don't make them any more, I carat security used armour cabs for scania, sisu and Renault with floor armour for bomb protection. The opticruise gearbox is the only option with the 730 to stop driveline abuse because the torque is so massive they need to be able to garuntee the driveline up to 180 tons, in fact the gearbox is the strongest on the Market currently far stronger than any fuller or Allison transmissions currently available , I wanted an Allison auto box in an r500 I had and was told by the dealer they wouldn't put them on anything bigger than a 440, they won't put in a fuller anymore either, having said all that I'd rather be in a conventional with landline threats around

Exactly, wouldn't have wanted a Manual on the r620 i drove this week in Norway. Total weight of 47,900kg and a max speed of 15-20 km/h over some hills. Even if the old Opticruise is slow i don't know if I wanted to have manual with that much power. How would I explain to the company that I broke the gearbox or an axel on a wrong shift.

Btw, 39,1l/100km when I Was home, think it's quite good with those hills. Avreg speed 64km/h

No T-Cab either thanks, a bus had to back up when I missed it when I got over the Crest. A little bit like this road it was [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPzN7PXdKoo[/ame] just not that long

That's brilliant mpg's Alot of trucks would only get that an highway cruising @ lower weights Those r620 are one hell of a truck, personally I like the opti cruise, sometimes it can be a little slow but it never does anything it shouldn't like trying to change up going uphill etc, it's always right on the money
