Well since you love USX they must be a great outfit. Not
And if you dislike drivers complaining about company's. Then why are you hanging around this forum? Just so you can bad mouth someone who does not agree that USX is a good company.
How many trucking company's have you worked for? That allowed you to compare USX to another company and diduse that they where the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Of course at a company the size of USX there will be drivers that like and dislike the company. Thats why there is another forum for the USX cheerleaders. I worked at USX for over 6.5 years and and the last 2 years I was there they sucked so you won't see me over there bashing you when you break out the pom pom's. -
Why? You had plenty to say to the OP.
This is a typical USX team driver. Of course USX is good for team drivers. I have said it myself many times. By the way I drove team, solo, regional, local, and trained at USX and I know how the solo's are treated compaired to the teams, and it is night and day my friend.
All anyone has to say about being solo at USX is get used to pu and del to railheads, and del dropped team loads.
No solo should ever go to work for a team orien- company unless they like doing lots of loads to get average money. -
My bad, for some silly reason, I thought the question mark in the title implied a question....
-
what is railheads ???
-
Railyards he means. Actually known as "intermodal" A lot of freight goes by rail

guy thats started this thread is a tool ive been here 1 week waiting in a hotel for a trainer but i can already tell this is a great company drivers ive spoken to ensured me i made a good choice the only ones that didnt u can tell y they say this just another disgruntled employee not doing his job right and blames usx
flood Thanks this. -
Yep USX bragged when they first went to the rail about how they put 10% of their frt on the rail faster then JBH did. In fact they where so ethical they did not tell the shippers Told us to not tell shprs that the loads where getting taken to the rail yards. My 2500+ mile best buy loads from Sumner Wa to Staunton VA to the rail. certainteed loads Back to Auburn Wa to the rail. New england loads to LA to the Phillie rail yard. What was I left with? brokered loads from never get anything right and double booked loads through CH Robinson and transplace.com or expedited loads where you sit all day and drive all night.
There was a time at USX when teams where running 7000k per week and solos 3000k per week. Then the 11/14 came and they gave use all a 3 penny raise and cut are miles by a grand a week. My last year OTR I was 4weeks on and 4 days off worked the holidays and did 96k avg 18 to 22 loads a month.
Thats probably why they went private and are pushing the lease hard core. Because I know my truck was loosing money since the break even on my truck was 2100 a week. Was told directly by the pink slippers out of SLC that there was a effort to starve out the higher paid drivers because the good paying loads where just not there anymore and they needed cheap drivers for the cheap frt. The bean counters wanted term and drop yards cut and that 2 year revolving door to step it up. USX pay structure from 0-2 went from 10 cents a mile as a student to .32 at 2 years then 1/2 penny afterwords. Don't know what it is now but I bet you not many solos past the 2 year mark. Thats when you get to expensive for their 98% cost to revenue ratio. I think Swift is the only other driver mill to have a higher one.
One good thing about driving solo at USX is that if you can stand it for a year or 2. Your next company will truly feel like you went from hell to heaven. I know it did for me. No more buying tooth picks to hold my eyes open to drive and logging driving miles during home time was a small price to pay to start over somewhere else. Good luck trainees, you will definitely need lots of that at good old USX.

thats some good UP-TO-DATE info you got.........
BTW you do know SLC closed what 6 YEARS A GO.....!!
so does anything you were told THEN count......??
i love when a driver that has NOT BEEN with the company for YEARS post like he knows what is going on today..... -
USX in my opinion is a starter company. On that note there may be better or worse. One thing I do know is the drivers are underpaid in my opinion. Get your experience from a company like this and move on is my thoughts about USX.
