Johnboy if I recall, I remember you saying that you and your family were affected by the events of 9-11, hope all is good with you today and enjoy your vacation right around the corner.

Yes we were. My wife flew up to NY for a memorial service with my mom for my cousin. I'm not there today, but it's always with me. Thanks for remembering on this day.

Hello, I've been looking thru the posts here and from what I can tell, it seems the drivers are fairly happy, I went to the website and couldn't find any info on hiring area or pay, requirements....all I saw was a link right to an app lol. So any ionfo as to the above would be appreciated.

Thanks and be safe out there

You need to live at the beginning or end of our freight lanes. Pa, NY, Fl, or Ga. We run a regular route and all of us are dispatched out and back. 80% live in Pa & NY, the rest live in Fl, Ga and Ca.

Well I got home around 3pm. I deliver in Ft Lauderdale on Tuesday at the same place I delivered at last Wednesday. Because of all the rain and flooding this past week Louie didn't have enough west coast freight for the regular drivers due to the fact a lot of our customers weren't open. Now I'll be doing 2 more rounds to Pa before I go on vacation.

I got home, unloaded my truck then ran to the airport to pick my wife and mom up. They went to a memorial for my cousin who perished on 9/11 in NY. Listening to my wife describing the ceremony and visiting the memorial that opened in honor of all that perished, it makes me really take a step back and think about how fortunate we are to live in this great country, and to ask a very simple question, do I really have any problems?

On a humorous note, I was told about my new truck assignment on Wednesday on my way up to Pa. When I got to the terminal on Friday I found xx334 with 192,000 miles on it, opened the door to it and was about knocked out from the stench of smoke. I was appalled at the nicotine layered on every inch of the inside, burn marks all over the place and a thick layer of dog hair thrown in. I got Mort out to look at it and he called the detail company we use to come over to detail the truck. The only problem was that I checked the truck out and when I started it the check engine light was on and a check engine fault code was flashing on the computer. Add to that the left front steer tire had about a 6 inch chunk of tread missing exposing the steel belt. I wrote it up and they took the truck right into the shop. Not for anything, but aren't drivers suppose to write these things up? Not only that, this truck was sitting at the yard all week. Meanwhile Melanie asked me for my fuel key for the fuel pump at the yard so she could reprogram it for the new truck.

After the shop had the truck all day, they finally said that it had to go to Volvo. So, no new truck for John. But wait, Ray came out and said to give me xx339. Ok, great. He said that he wanted to start it because this 2011 Volvo 780 with 162,000 miles on it had a brand new engine put in it under warranty. The problem with this truck was when he started it up he heard a rattling noise coming from the turbo. Guess what? The turbo went bad and needed to be replaced, also under warranty. So, needless to say, I left with xx270. Oh, my regular truck, xx311, still at Volvo with everyone scratching their a.s.s's trying to find out whats wrong with it, all after 5 weeks. Thats my truck issue story. I hope it gets better the end of the week when I get back. Oh, Melanie then had to reprogram my fuel key again, back to this loaner truck I've been driving. What a circus.

Thiis last round I did was 2850 miles in 4.5 days. I was told that I will be loading in the same place as I did last week going to Schenectady NY. This round will be 3050 miles in 5 days.

Sorry, but if you think about the way Calex freight lanes run living at either end gets drivers home every week constantly, unless they decide to stay out longer which some do. Good luck in your search. There are other jobs like this one out there, you just have to be vigilant in your search.
