CAT makes the world go around. Any other questions?
-
ill tell you what though. we just re-did our whole motor (well not us) but milton cat in rochester, ny because we had a couple of bad injector cups that mixed the oil and coolant (bad things happened then) so we gave them the go 16,954.57 dollars later we got the truck back and it doesnt run half as good as it did we have a 600hp 13 speed in a w900L. I love the cats but man they sure are expensive. Mind you we own our own company so all of the cost was ours on that wholeeee jobb

Some thing is not right. Don't let that shop off with a bad job. I had a truck with that problem (oil/coolant) and ended up doing the over haul before it was all said and done. 435 HP 3406E it ran like a champ ever since.
This past spring I sold it to one of our site members, best of my knowledge its still running strong. -
well the problem is everything is in epa specs... therefore they cant touch it leagally. the turbo was running almost 33 pounds of boost which is almost un-heard of in any engine let alone a cat. On a cat engine the boost is allowed to go up to 45lbs before damage occurs (straight from headquarters) now we are only getting 25? hmmm something fishy if you ask me.. So i got under the hood one night when my dad brought it home and i took the turbo off and replaced it with a brand newone and works decent and alot better than what it was. One thing when they did the overhaul was somewhere along the line they crimped one of the a/c hoses and it busted... ok not a biggie bring it back we will fix it ok i took it up to them one day and they told me "oh it was like that when we first got it" ya ok one minute let me call corprate and have them come check it out... never seen a shop work so fast in my life.... have a safe night all

Disconnect the hose that goes to the waste gate. It'll make a couple more lbs boost and make a slightly noticeable difference. At least it did on my 3406E. It went from feeling OK, to feeling more free to run. But still didn't make more than about 30 lbs.
If all else fails look up Pittsburgh Power. -
i tried putting a bolt in the hose and running a trip with it and i didnt notice much so finally i just got so fed up with it i said lets just get a new turbo and ill do the labor... come to find out when they did the over haul they didnt touch the turbo and i was messing round with it and saw that the waste gate was stuck close.... there was the problem but its still not pulling like a 600 cat shouldd im putting it on the dyno next week

I'll bet they flashed the ECM with the newest/latest/greatest software which basically cut the engine back to control emmisions. That happened to a buddies truck, now he is trying to find someone to un-do it. It is stuff like this that makes me do all my big cummins and little cummins work in a trusted garage, MINE
-
yea i did read something about when your engine is overhauled the ECM must be updated with the new emissions software
