Which is why the guy being passed could be the "professional" and back out of it for a couple seconds to let the other one by.

I run in states whose speed limits are under my governor. I get passed all the time. I don't care what name is on the wagon. If you can get by me and want to take the chance (I'm almost always running about 3 over already) then knock yourself out. Just don't get back in front of me and slow me down. If you want in front of me, the logical conclusion is you want to go faster than me. So go.

Could you imagine the cluster all these highways would be in if all trucks would run 65 and the cars all running 75+ ?

You don't have to imagine. Just go to California and see for yourself!

I have searched all over, but cannot find a study that correlates increased accidents due to speed governors. I understand the frustration of being caught behind a governed truck in a state like Arizona and I know there are a lot of drivers that would rather drink cyanide than drive a governed truck.
But I think there is far more danger in dual speed states such as CA, OR and WA.
Placing 70mph vehicles in the same lanes as 55mph leviathans is just plain criminal. The cars are zipping around these trucks loaded with 80, 90 or even 100,000# plus, creating a recipe for disaster.
If you’ve driven in these states, you know what I am talking about.
We tried governing everyone back under Tricky Dick.
Didn’t work. It’s what gave rise to the ‘outlaw’ trucker movement.
Driving slower does preserve fuel mileage in most cases. But it should be a choice, and certainly not in an environment that creates dangerous conditions.

No, they don't. Just look at the drivers around you. They are definitely not like me, even if they are in California:

You dont even have to go there, it's anywhere.. A big line of governed trucks, and it never fails, one of those morons will jump out in the hammer lane right in front of me, making me slow down, doing 62 mph and hold me and everyone else up for 10 miles...

Ever been across 54 between New Mexico to Kansas? You have swift, prime, england running across there at 62 mph in a 70 mph zone in most areas. On a 2 lane this just creates a big ole cluster f$&k. People try to get brave and pass, I've seen plenty of close calls. It's to dangerous to have all trucks running the same speed. Just a big bottle neck. It's mainly the four wheelers trying to pass having the close calls, but I have seen a few with big trucks. Passing four trucks takes some time to do, even in a four wheeler..

** I'd like to add that I'm not picking on any of these companies/drivers. It is what it is, they are slow, which is fact.
