That seems kind of dumb! I guess when a flatbedder has to take a dry load to get home they'll just have to wing it. Teach a guy to truck then teach home securement and train him on flats.
I would have lost it if they'd made me wait two weeks to get a trainer. Won't help their turnover any.
the problem is simple communication. That and hiring more guys then they have the capacity to train.

Guys that go thru school at Roehl should be sent out with vans then trained on flats. Maybe a guy who has flatbedded before it could be different. Hang in there shots! Play with your kiddos a ton!!!!!!

I think these are the three wisest statements I've read on TTR. Well done, hindsy, well done.

Well today came and went. No picture license yet. I called my student coordinator to see if she found someone else for me. I left a message but didn't hear back from her. I will call her tomorrow and if I don't get an answer I will call my fleet mgr. I am ready to push a bit. I hate to make waves but the time has come. I need to get out of my house! LOL.

Two weeks is too long to be sitting around, although I have been working out everyday and today had FEMA come over to inspect the water damage from hurricane Irene. My mom convinced me to call and see if I can get some money to help with sealing the basement walls. I just read an article the day after I filled out the form that said Albany people are not utilizing FEMA and really should be.We didn't get too much damage as we put everything off the floor in anticipation, but I need to get the walls sealed. Two pieces of siding came off the house too so what the hell, I filled out the form for disaster assistance. They called yesterday and came today.

The guy was cool as hell. He just got out of the trucking business. He owned a truck and his brother drove for him. He now doesn't talk to his brother because of some issues with his driving. lol. He didn't go into too much detail so I didn't ask. He did say his brother got his cdl taken away and he lost a lot of money.

Oh well, I hope to hell my license comes soon and that Roehl finds me a trainer. Tomorrow I will light a fire under someones ### I tell you. lol. Wish me luck....again. lol.

After seeing the way some of these loads are being loaded, secured and tarped, I agree. Just 1 example...a load of 20 skidded coils out of Kentucky...it was a relay, picked up at Gary. It had 8 straps on it, the wood for the cradles wasn't nailed in, and the tarp wasn't covering it all.
I can't say that poor training was the reason, but it really makes you wonder.

No room for half assing it in flatbed. Stupid mistakes can getcha killed, or worse yet someone else.

We all know veterans make those mistakes too. Really to be safe and well trained these new flatbedders should get a month out there or even more. Lol. Just really depends on how serious they take their jobs.

I can tell you one thing. I am scared of hurting someone mostly. I am scared of hurting myself as well. Learning how to secure a load properly is going to be as important to me as was learning to drive safely. I thought a long time about it before I decided to go to the flatbed division.

If I ever get picked up to be trained, lol, I will do it to the best of my abilities. I read on this forum somewhere that flatbed will satisfy my add by being different everyday, and satisfy my odd by allowing me to control everything and make everything perfect. I laughed when I read that but I definitely could relate! lol. I want to be the guy with a perfectly tarped load. Pride in what I do is important to me.
