Bulldog, you do realize that if you operate a tire below max presure that you will cause the tire to over heat quickly.
I have seen alot of tires that have been brought into the shop because some one thought they should run at a lower pressure and cause undue wear. The usual response that they need a new tire is incredulous. But they have damaged the sidewall and made it not hold air plus worn the sidewall on the nearby dual so that you might as well leave a stone in there for 50 miles. I highly recomend to anyone on this thread not to test theories with inflation.
Be safe, keep it at max. Dont over inflate or under inflate. Thankyou.

You'll get better mpg with tires filled to max or close to max but you'll get a rougher ride. Psi builds up with heat so becarefull no to run on max psi and running in the heat with out stopping cause that psi can easily build up to 150 if you starting at 120.

Trucks and tires are designed to run heavy and most of the time you are. Alot of companies are running 110 psi now to increase fuel mileage. Like lovesthedrive said, it's not rocket science. The tire manufacturers have fulltime employees testing and evaluating tires. Fuel managers are constantly reading up on best tire wear and fuel mileage. Take what they say to heart.
Inflation is not the only thing that effects wear. Worn shocks, suspension components and alignment plays a big role.
Where's this chart you talk about Bulldog? None of them numbers are stamped on the tire which shows the numbers under normal load and max pressure. What's stamped on the tire is what everyone goes by. -

Manufacturer's put the 110 psi on the tire. I can't imagine a manufacturer saying to run it at 50 psi because it will wear better. I know on my pickup tires I run 44 psi in a 285 series tire. So I cant see running 6 more psi in a tractor trailer tire.
But if it floats your boat to do that, beware what could happen to the tire overheating, blowing etc.

Had another one today. This time it was a local driver, speeding and his license had expired last November. His medical card expired last September. Five current suspensions in my State, and suspended by two other State's. To top it off he had 4 active arrest warrants in my State. They ranged from Felony Theft, Child support, burglary, and Violation of probation/parole.
