    I remember when Swift was in Stephen City Virginia years ago, they dragged up over night and moved out of town. I know they are going to have many drivers from that area looking for payback in this.

    Swift bought Fulton and a month later the place was closed up

    I hope they win, though I don't see this as changing much on wages overall in the industry. Companies will just shift to the percentage model on loads - and keep drivers in the dark as to the full freight bill amount.

    Agreed, and yes it happens, but usually what? 10 - 15 miles?

    Nothing really and usually in cities like Chicago where traffic time far outweighs any benefits.

    These maps (at least the software many of these companies use) are outdated - and don't include many of the newer truck restrictions in their calculations.

    I don't know how all these companies have gotten by with shorting the Drivers miles all these years in the first place! Previous to the electronic on board recorders, a Driver could log the miles as short miles, but now with all this on board recorder crap, you can't log it like that any more -so you're screwed even worse!!

    I'm getting more interested in this. From my time as a dispatcher there has always been something I was curious about regarding routing and paid miles. i'm kinda stunned nobody has brought it up.

    Aside from the fact that I'm still somewhat of a "glorified" Dispatcher (Landstar Agent) - I was also a Safety Director years ago for a small trucking company. One year, when we were audited - the DOT Auditor had told us that a Driver can be legal on His logs by logging the PAID miles, not the practical miles.

    That does not address the logging example (many older/some newer drivers) use the..."I stop my log at the city limits" excuse. However, they are still "driving" for an extended amount of time (and distance) to get to the address of their destination. Plus the E-logs will show "driving" no matter where the city limit is!

    In my many years at Swift...there were many occasions (trips) I ran under the PAID miles as stated by the routing/dispatch.

    That was an argument when we were forced to dodge tolls. Guess who won? Not the drivers.

    Another one is big cities like Dallas with multiple drops. You can get beat out of $40 or more bouncing around town.

    Been several comments on various threads concerning the practice of HHG to Practical miles and the short miles paid on this forum.
