QUESTION FOR ANYONE WHO CAN ANSWER TRUTHFULLY. Here is the senrio: I am currently working for a trucking company over the road. I just started, been out of school for about three months. I still continue to look for better jobs in my spare/down time. I came across an ad on Craiglist, and it is a position requiring you to have a CDL w/endorsements, but no experience required (10% driving). It is in the oil field of course dealing with frac, and things. I have applied and got accepted. I believe they are currently hiring out of Woodward, OK and Odessa, TX. Does ANYONE no ANYTHING about either location???? And, my last question is, if so, is there a way to move up into a less hands-on labor position to more of a driving/hauling/transporting position??
Thanx for ANY possible feed back n advance.
So you want to haul crude oil in the badlands of ND?

When I first got into the oilfield I was scared to death that I couldn't handle all the hard work. But to tell you the truth most oilfield jobs are not hard. Except for a few like roughnecking or working on a pulling unit or mudawg. On a frac crew a huge part of your time will be sitting on your ### waiting. With my job most of my 12-14 hour day consists of sitting in my truck waiting to get loaded. I would never go over the road after working in the oilfield. It would be a pay cut and alot more hours. If I'm in a truck I should be getting paid whether I'm moving or not.

Hey Me99, are you at either one of them locations I mention?

yeah how things are over there in north dakota, winter its going to be tough. im waiting to get my hazmat in couple of days to see how easy it is

What are the odds a guy that doesn't have his CDL but has experience driving tandems and semis from farm work in the past would be able to get a driving job? Born and raised in North Dakota.

WHY DOES THIS THING MAKE YOU MAKE SO MANY POSTS BEFORE LETTING YOU COMMUNICATE WITH POEPLE???

Your odds won't be very good until you get that CDL. Once you have it in hand, you'll probably find somebody to hire you. Being a local, and having the farm experience, should make you a better choice than some of the 'experienced' driving school grads from down south with a few months OTR. At least, it would make you a better choice if I were doing the hiring. Get the license, go to work.
