I've been an owner operator in Alberta for 19 years. The last 10 have been in the oil and gas industry. Almost all off road tanker service. If you would like to know anything about what it's like to work out here just ask.
oilfield Thanks this. -
Oil Patch,
What I'm trying to find is a 3 week in, 1 week out kind of deal once I get my CDL in November. Or 21 in, 14 out. You get the idea. I have lot's of experience driving Army 6x6 gun tractors towing howitzers in all kinds of weather and terrain. -
calfrac sanjel haliburton schlumberger the companies that do any sort of onsite well service. it pays better and you can move up to better jobs with more responsibilities greater challenges and even better pay. outfit i work for Canadian Nitrogen Services is looking for several good guys. some folks feel that the pay is not the very highest in the industry(still very decent) but there are other perks working for a small rapidly growing company. like getting asked to get your passport so they can apply for a work permit for you for Saudi Arabia you won't get that at the big companies
oilfield Thanks this. -
All the frac and service companies are hiring drivers right now. They will take on new, un proven drivers.
Most rotations are 15 on and 6 off. If you want to do it this year you need to get on it, now. It takes time to get your safety programs and orientaions done. The longer you wait, the longer it will take for you to see the real $$. Now is prime time to get on for this winter season. (October to March)
They may hire you as is and help you get your license. But don't wait around for the phone to ring. If you want it, come and get it. If you are standing in thier office they will hire you. Companies will not help get an inexperianced hand get out here. They do that for people who have something to offer out of the box.
Positions start at $30.00 + and hour.
You have military experiance, they will hire you.
You will have to pass a piss test!
Hit the internet, Trican, BJ Services, Sanjel, Cal Frac, Slumberger, Haliburton, look up the Albert oil field directory.
Good luck!newguyonscene, Digitalwarrior, dogg478_1902 and 2 others Thank this. -
Oil Patch,
Thanks for the info and advice, it's muchly appreciated. After a total of 24 years in the military, passing a piss test is easy -
Hey Oil Patch, what about O/O , you run your own authority? Running Ontario to west coast U.S LTL , starting to get tired of it. Whats out there for owner ops.

Some frac sand Pneumatics, bulk cement, liquid nitrogen or liquid co2.

I sent out a few emails and got a few bites. They told me to give them a call the week before I do my road test. Here's hoping....
