You are right about miles being pretty slim. I am only making about $600.00 (gross) a week to work 7 days a week, 14 hours a day and out for at least a month at a time. This is a very, very low paying job. And I would have to also agree with you that alot of the Joplin staff are pretty arrogant.. which I really dont understand why. They are just simple clowns just like the rest of us. As for the health insurance, Conway is the absolute best. Hands down. I am paying only $28.00 a week, thats $112.00 a month total for myself AND my wife. And there is NO deductable. NONE. And I have only been here for 6 months. I am hanging on because I am hoping that with time the pay and miles will get better.

Just wanted to pass some info along..... Odessa/Midland Texas is hiring LTL drivers like crazy. They have no driver and are having to have other terminal send some of their drivers down there. All the drivers they had took off to the oil field. They are giving an $8000 sign on bonus (**Eligible for $500 sign-on bonus in addition to $1500 retention bonus after 6 months; $3000 after 12 months; and another $3000 retention bonus after 24 months***) My brother in law is down there right now, filling in from OKC,Ok. Just thought I share

I agree with everything you said it only took me a little over 3mos. to figure it out.I just quit and am working for a small private carrier and making more money. They still owe me 400.00 dollars probably won't see that.I'M just coming back into the driving side of this bussiness after 26yrs. but one thing is for certain all the big companies are the same lie lie lie.GOOD LUCK

So, mid October rolled around and it was time to get some new tires. Pretty exciting day in the life of an OTR trucker, lol. Anyway, I guess C-Way changed their tire policy. They started using XOne XDA tires on the Tag Axle trucks. For those of you who don't know, that's a trailer tire. Yuck!
I told management that if they wanted to put those on the truck before winter set in, that was fine...but to consider it my two weeks notice. Talked to everyone I could, the kept telling me how safe they were, somehow failing to have an statistics to back it up. I did ask them if they thought that maybe this is why the loss of control accident numbers have gone through the roof...to which they replied that the drivers just don't know how to properly operate their equipment! The nerve, lol. We left on good terms, they sent us a post card about how they were thinking of us. I thought, maybe you should have thought about me when you put those POS tires on my truck, eh? I decided my life was worth more than the $800 they will save per year. The also told me it was a new policy because of pressure from the EPA. What a gas. I wasn't really that mad, we got a job offer the next day and have been VERY happy at our new company! Three weeks out, 4-5 days home, woo hoo!!
I did get a little angry when C-Way charged me for a week of health insurance and dropped me off the policy the same day, WTH?? I asked for a refund, they unsurprisingly said no. Also, they kept out penny a mile reimbursement for pet money. If you have a dog, you know what I'm taking about. I was told our Oct fuel mpg was 5.4!?!? That would be the lowest mpg, by far, that we have ever had...I find this suspicious but cannot know for sure until I get home to see how many gals we really put in. Anyway, C-Way is still a good company that I would recommend to anyone starting out, but they defiantly won't be seeing me on their payroll again. Guess their momma never told them to avoid burning bridges.
