P.S Road Master Driver's School in Tampa but you will be paying $6k.

This will give you an idea of what you'll be up against trying to find a job in Tampa. I'm considering going to CDL school and have been making phone calls to see what the job market's like before I spend the money on schooling. So far it's been very discouraging. I've been calling today using my parent's zip code, which is north of I-4 by about 35 miles and haven't had much better results.

 

I will have to disagree with you, there are plenty of companies that will hire you out of Tampa if you are willing to go otr. And there ARE local jobs to be had, but the pay is not the greatest. But in this economy it is something.

Don't go to Road Master, now THAT would be a big mistake.

 

Who are you calling?

Stevens, Swift, Knight, CRST, Conway, Prime, Wil Trans, Werner... just off the top of my head, all will hire students out of Tampa...

Swift and Prime I know both have their own training program. Some of the others may have as well, I'm not sure. But you want to call the company and ask them what their terms are.

I'm in my 5th week at pTEC, in St Petersburg. Paid about $2,200 for a 9 week, 320 hour course.
