i think c r england is great and I cant ask for any more out of a company.
-
Thanks for the detailed reasons reinforcing your claims as to why you think they are so great. Dosen't look so great from my house.AfterShock Thanks this. -
You've convinced me CyberKing, ....... C.R. England is a great place to begin -- and end -- a Big truck truckin' career. And, you're right, --- you can't ask for any more out of a company that prides itself with providing less.
Please give updates in about six months.
-
What exactly do you mean by providing less?
The issues you brought up against CRE aren't solely confined to CRE. It's industry wide. Take the word CRE out of your posts and replace it with Prime, Covenant, Swift, JB Hunt, Werner, whoever else and your posts still hold ground. All of the mainstream OTR carriers are the same. The only difference is the color of the truck/trailer and the name on the side of it. -
What difference does it make what I mean, ..... exactly?
Oh!
Well, ..... in that case I 'spose it's ok to dirty deal the drivers.I'll stick with C.R. England 'cause they're the best in the worst way.
Thanx anyway.

I never stated it was OK to dirty deal a driver. I said your complaints are industry wide, and not just confined to CRE. When you start at the bottom of the totem pole with a mainstream OTR carrier, you're not going to get the best treatment, no matter where you go. This is a fact. If you stick it out with a mainstream carrier long enough, things do get better.
And just a FYI:
~ CRE doesn't force anyone to get a CDL
~ CRE doesn't force anyone to lease a truck
~ CRE doesn't force you to become a 1st seat driver. You can stay on Phase II as long as you want.
People make poor decisions all the time. CRE, and other mainstream OTR companies, isn't going to hold your hand to make sure you make the right choice. It's your decision to upgrade from Phase II early, and it's your decision to lease, not theirs. If you expect a company to hold your hand, you're in the wrong industry. That just isn't going to happen.
I go to company teminals and tell students this quite often. I also tell them that if they have no previous driving experience, and/or they have no experience running a business, don't bother leasing a truck. It is possible to profit as a solo IC at CRE, or any other mainstream OTR carrier. You need to know how to budget, and run a business. This is where many fail where others do not.
If you don't want to lease, then don't lease. CRE has more than just OTR leasing. They have more than just company 48. They have dedicated, intermodal, flatbed, etc.
On a side note:
Why do you never hear from the successful IC's from CRE? Because they are too busy driving their truck and running their business to care about posting on this forum. Plus, not every driver cares about the internet enough to use a forum. If that truck isn't rolling, you're losing money. The longer you sit and complain about how bad you have it, the more money you're going to lose. You can't judge a company with over 5,000 drivers based on what you hear and read from 50ish drivers that had bad personal experiences.
You're never going to see me say "Avoid this company because this happened to me". Why? Just because it happened to me doesn't mean it's going to happen to someone else. Yes, there are drivers that are happy with CRE. There are drivers that are happy with Swift. Etc. Every company has it's bad apples. Every company has good things, and bad things. So what if you didn't make it as a IC at CRE? Instead of terminating the lease early and quitting the company (which BTW goes on your credit report as Horizons does report to the credit bureau's), transfer to a different fleet.Last edited: Sep 22, 2011
AfterShock, cholosgirl and venne Thank this. -
Look dude....and listen good.....stay the hell away from CR England....PERIOD! I drove for Schneider for one year after i left the military. They were not a bad company to drive for.....but i only stayed there for one year, which was my intention all along. I have been driving local...for an oil company...for 16 years now. CR Englands BAD reputation is well founded and goes back MANY years! I've know several people who have worked for them over the years....and NONE of them had a positive experience. Word to the wise!

I just finished CR England's driving school. Use them to get your cdl and move on. I am applying with PAM transports because they will take recent truck driving school graduates.
AfterShock Thanks this. -
CRE is a good starter company, just make sure you line up that other job first before you tell CRE you quit.
AfterShock Thanks this.
