It's hard to make enough money to survive here because the people are relatively poor and poverty stricken. I have not tried any business ventures and am really hesitant to even consider it when the subject is brought up.

I'm here because of the cheap living, no other reason. I really miss the USA and the things of everyday life that I took for granted over there, like a good pizza whenever I felt the need for it....LOL!

Since we are on a trucking forum, I just have to say that driving is hell over here and I dread it.

I love driving here, it's absolute pandemonium! There is no law here when it comes to driving, especially in Leyte where I live. If you want to pass use the left, the right, the sidewalk - anything goes as long as you make it to your destination in one piece. Mad Max - The Road Warrior is about the best way to sum it up. Here in Ormoc City where I live close to, there are no red lights, no stop signs, no speed limits, no police giving tickets, and yet it all works perfectly. Try that in a city in the US. My wife doesn't drive here yet, not because she can't, but because I won't let her. I will wait until we are back in the states to show her the correct way to drive, if I let her loose on the roads here, I will have to undo all that she learns here. My insurance back home will be through the roof in no time flat! :biggrin_25523:

I heard that due to the 1 child rule in China, the ratio is 30 men to 1 women and only rich chinese men can get a wife. The chinese men are buying wifes from Korea. Are they buying wifes yet in the phillipines? That will be a wretched island if all the women are gone, sort of like when i was in the navy and they said, "In adak alaska, theres a woman behind every tree"....there are no trees in adak alaska, hahaha, just a baren rock with to much testosrone....you know, the horny young guys would chase a car down the road, because it had a tail pipe on a car....hahahah:biggrin_25521:

Anyway..there still alot of women here in the states that would ride with you if ya get tired of chasing chickens in the phillipines. Chow...PS I am in California right now living the good ole USA....aaaahhhhh
