The main number at recruiting is 800.224.4585 - explain what is going on and talk to the first person you get.

The backing will be taught by your instructor. Most give you a couple days before n after you go out for your hours. How much backing you do out on the road is entirely up to him. Mine did almost none, I backed 3 times, some do a lot. Out on the road it is hard to get practice in, most just use the training pad.

As far as tolls, we have EZPASS, so its not that bad where they accept it.

Your a strange strange man Sazook lol And I know, Ive met ya lol

Here's a question for a Prime driver/lease operator. I have over 10 years, OTR ,prior experience. Almost all my prior experience was as an owner/operator. I decided to pursue another career back in 1995, got off the road and let my CDL lapse. I've decided that I want to get back on the road and after doing a fair amount of research, Prime was my first choice.

I called Prime recruiting earlier this week and was told that I would need to get my CDL from a school first, prior to trying to get on with them (huh..wtf..???) I currently live in Maine, but I want to get the heck out of here and would be more then happy to relocate to Springfield or where ever. That is the only reason(living in Maine) I can think of as to why the recruiter blew me off. I've been to their website and read about their training program for non-cdl drivers. I was sort of stunned and said ok and hung up.

My driving record is squeeky clean, as is my employment history, etc.. I KNOW I would be an asset to any trucking company either as a driver or lease operator. If your a current Prime driver, drop me a message if you know someone I could talk to there about signing on with them. Thanks!

I know this sounds tough, but their reasoning is you've been out of the industry for 16 years. Its a liability deal. Its also quite possible that you can pick up where you left off with a different carrier.

You would need to go through the PSD program to get your license again along with the training program.

PSD being 2 weeks on road with an instructor, then you test for your license. Training period is 30,000 miles teaming with a trainer. After this you get your own truck.

If you are looking at the PSD program, call again, talk to a different recruiter and tell them that is what you are looking into.

Also, make sure you call during the week (Mon-Fri) as the weekend crew is kind of useless.

Prime is also very particular about their hiring area. I know...I had such a conversation yesterday. Because I live south of their east-west imaginary line, and just barely, I would qualify. The recruiter in their office said if I live a half mile farther north, I would not qualify. Sounds tough, but I guess they have to draw the line somewhere. Their standards are higher than the big starter companies.
