Dude needs to be hung from one of these flag poles. I understand that we allow freedom of speech, where those that hate the United States can live here, gain the rewards from living here, yet still bash our wonderful Nation.

When some idiot crosses the line to doing something like this, I think those rights should be gone.

His right to do that, no matter if it may piss you off, is exactly what is right with this country. Sure he is a knucklehead, but even stupid people have the right of expression we all hold dearly.

Just shake your head and go on with your day.

Destruction of property is not a right, it is a criminal offense.

If you want to burn a flag that you bought, I can't do nothing about it. If you want to tear up something that doesn't belong to you, that is a different story.

This has nothing to do with the political crap you are talking about, destruction of someone elses property has come into play here.

My bad, didn't read the whole article.

He gets charged with the crime, does the time.

Still not worth getting all worked up about, he's still a knucklehead.

It is for me. If I can find a loophole to nail a flag burner, I am going to go for it full speed :)

I am a soldier in the US Army Reserves. I would gladly lay down my life for our flag. But at the same time, I have to tell myself. I am fighting this war for the right of others to have the kind of freedom that allows them to burn our great flagg.
Wasn't to long ago, my unit was on a 7 mile road march. We witnessed a young man with dred-locks and tie died shirt. He couldn't have been more than 22 years old. Lay our great flagg on the ground and began pissing on it.
None of us broke ranks, but I tell you this. I have never seen so many grown men's heart break. A lot of tears were shed that day. I'm sure this kid had his reasons for doing what he did. Just wish he would vent his anger in a more productive way.

The desecration of the flag really irritates me to no end, but getting upset enough to hang people for desecration of a piece of cloth is a bit much.. The guy is an idiot and needs to pay all the damages and the replacement costs and maybe a fine for the crimes of trespass.. thats about it.
